Last good song you listened to?

So here’s my contribution… I was introduced to “The Ghost of Tom Joad” when I was in 7th grade and it got released by RATM as a single. Of course, I had no idea who Tom Joad was. I did, however, know who Tom Jones was, and it took me a while before I realized it wasn’t “The Ghost of Tom Jones,”...

Jazz hire Carlos Boozer as a scout

I’ll just say it now… the league, in a desperate attempt to prove it’s not rigged, will never allow us to land AJ or Boozer.

Has our future position gotten better, worse, or stayed the same since trading Rudy/Donovan?

I think people are more open to considering this after the emotions of the lottery coming on the heels of an entire season of building anticipation. But the reality is that even if we were to have won the lottery, we still have a very, very steep hill and great chasm in front of that still...

Has our future position gotten better, worse, or stayed the same since trading Rudy/Donovan?

True. And so was right after the trades, when we couldn’t fathom being where we are. That’s why I made sure to be clear that what we’re measuring and comparing is valuation.

Has our future position gotten better, worse, or stayed the same since trading Rudy/Donovan?

I have a bone to pick with this pick that I’ll detail at some point later, but it’s another speculative value one like all the Cleveland, Minnesota and Lakers picks whose value we watched go up in smoke. That is to say that we never seem to fully appreciate how quickly the landscape changes...

Has our future position gotten better, worse, or stayed the same since trading Rudy/Donovan?

The problem with this is that even if we were to have landed Flagg and kept Lauri, great. We're now somewhere in some kind of playoff mix soon. But that's kind of it. It would have still required grabbing another guy next year with a high pick if we're really wanting to become legitimate...

America, duh. It’s not the league who overseas it but Ernst & Young. The question is who the third party is that it’s outsourced to overseas. It’s a type of Temu drop-shop lottery.

We don’t really have any other options so unfortunately it’s the best way to play our hand. It doesn’t mean it will work, it just means that our options are so limited that it’s the only way forward.

Absolutely. That’s why I say emotion (the way the previous three years of postseasons had gone) clouded the judgement on being able to adequately appraise that.

Has our future position gotten better, worse, or stayed the same since trading Rudy/Donovan?

The question is simple. Compared to the VALUATION of where we thought our future would be with in total assets (from the trades or otherwise), have the prospects of our future valuations changed since the summer of 2022? If so, in which way?

That’s the decision I was referring to, not the decision to tank. The decision to tank was the best way we could play our hand. Trading away both guys wasn’t necessarily the best way we could have played that hand. That’s the part that I don’t think needs “revisiting” with the benefit of...

Agreed mostly. The only thing I'd nitpick is that "the decision to blow everything up in the first place should be reconsidered." I don't believe it takes hindsight to realize this now and if we weren't heavily stirred by emotion it was patently visible then.
