Official 2014 Draft "Final Call" Thread

Oh, I also think Stauskas will be no worse than 15th in a 'redraft' 5 years later, and perhaps 5th. To my mind, he's the safest pick in the entire draft. He's a ridiculously good shooter by the numbers, and I would not be upset if we traded back to get him.

Official 2014 Draft "Final Call" Thread

A healthy Embiid is the best player in this draft. It would be evident by the end of year 3, and in that year, fully healthy, he will be a Top 10 player in the NBA. I know this because I have watched exactly 3 youtube videos. Science. When I'm wrong, I will happily admit it. I have no idea...

    Really hope Lindsey trades Burke

Hey back at ya. The Old Guard like Numb and GVC are still around, but I can't figure out the others with the name changes.

    Really hope Lindsey trades Burke

I think this might be the opposite. DL knew we didn't have a point, knew Burke would get big minutes, and "knew" that Burke would put up halfway respectable numbers. In other words, Burke became (more or less) the asset he hoped he would become. Also knowing that this draft was deep, he now...

    Really hope Lindsey trades Burke

I don't know, or care, about his perceived lack of loyalty. But I would be more than happy to deal him. I don't think he's a longterm answer as a starting point and his value right now might be higher than his actual worth. My gut read is he's a classic Sell High guy because I fear he's on a...

DL - Swing for the Fences - Embiid?

The best player in the draft, a Sure Thing if he's healthy, falling to us at 5 just feels like fate. We're not making the playoffs next year, anyway. So how much better off are we taking one of the Sure Maybes like Vonleh, Gordon, or Smart?

LeBron opting out hurts our chances of getting first pick?

First move is flip the 1 for Love, right? LBJ-Love-Kyrie is a great nucleus, plus Lebron stays East. They need more shooters, but I can see it.

Offer to Cavs for #1 is to draft Wiggins not Parker

I think you underestimate Favors. Wiggins is a bet. Maybe a great one. But I'm not sure I throw in Favors to bet on him. In this draft, Favors would go top 5 easy. So you're saying Wiggins is worth the 1 and the 5 to draft him. It might be true, but I'm not sure I believe in that.

    Jeremy Lin?

I love Lin and I would be thrilled to add him. Straight up, he's better than Burke. And in the dream scenario, we trade Burke for something good and Lin becomes our starting point.

    Embiid Out 4-6 Months

Actually, I would go crazy if we didn't take him. He's just too good, and his ceiling is just too high. Practically speaking, it's a great risk for DL. If Embiid turns up lame, he can always say he went for the high ceiling guy whose body failed him, not his talent. All I know is that kid...

Offer to Cavs for #1 is to draft Wiggins not Parker

He looks the part, yes. But Durant destroyed college. Lebron didn't get the chance, but I would have bet he would. Wiggins got the chance, and didn't destroy college. I just feel like sure fire #1 picks should destroy college. He probably will be great, but I'm not sure "probably" makes...

    Embiid Out 4-6 Months

On talent, he's the most obvious sure thing in the draft. I'm not a doctor so I can't assess the risk. But if it's reasonable that he can recover, then you have to roll the dice on him, or even move up a little to get him. That said, I won't cry if we don't take him.

Offer to Cavs for #1 is to draft Wiggins not Parker

I really have no feeling for Wiggins, but he's obviously not a Lebron or Durant styled sure thing with crazy measurables or verifiable performance. (He's athletic, yes, but he's not a 6'10" 3 who can score at will, or a Lebron who is a once in a generation physical marvel). I'll support DL in...

Hayward - has his own blog and logo ....

I think Gordon's agent made a mistake getting this website up and running, but I don't read much into it. Gordon is just letting other people plot his course. The mistake is I personally think there is a good chance he won't get an RFA offer and won't come to an agreement with the Jazz. RFA...

    Aaron Gordon = Kawhi Leonard

Leonard is a special player. Comparing Gordon to him seems optimistic to me, but then I've seen exactly one Gordon highlight video. From what little I've seen, he just looks like a better version of our Gordon. And our Gordon is not in the same class as San Antonio's Gordon.

why so many of you giving up on Burke? He is our future PG, period!

Burke can't drive. Doesn't mean he doesn't have a future as a Billups/Miller type, but he's hardly a shooter at this point. That's his upper trajecory though. The problem with Burke that I worry about is he likes to call his own number and seems to have an inflated opinion of his offensive...

    My bid for Joel Embiid

You trade everything for him. I don't watch college basketball, and I rarely get moved by highlight tapes, but his atlheticism for that size is unreal. I don't see Hakeem moves, but I'd take that bet. He's going 1 so it doesn't matter.

What team is gonna be Corbin's new team?

And by the way, Jerry is a bad example. At his time, he was a genius. When the game was pure post, and mid range shots were sacrosanct, his offense was a ballet of movement to first create shots off the PnR, then create the curls off back screens, and most importantly incorporate cutters...

What team is gonna be Corbin's new team?

I just can't buy this argument. Yes, many coaches have gotten second chances in the past. But analytics have radically altered the landscape. It used to be that new GM's were rare, and basically just played musical chairs between the 30 jobs. That old boys network led to recycling all the...
