I don't think that's right. I believe it's the other way around: with 3+ year vets counting against the cap the same as a 2-year vet. Per Larry Coon's FAQ (LINK): Not sure why he used 2017-18 as an example, but the rule still applies. Rookies on minimum contracts should count as $898,310...

The question is whether they can get under the LT by replacing their last 4 players (Oni, Morgan, Niang, NWG) with rookies on minimum contracts. They can under certain, seemingly reasonable assumptions. Per Capulator (plus assumptions in bold): Conley: $34,502,130 Gobert: $26,525,281...

Is this necessarily the case? How much salary is guaranteed for Niang, NWG, Oni, Morgan and Brantley? When/is there a guarantee date on their contracts?

    Nicholas Batum?

    He's 32 in December.

Holding onto the BAE until waiving season might land the Jazz a decent player, especially if they're top 4 in the West.

They can be renounced before they sign.

    Missing Hughes.

    Money remaining???

Couple people have said so. I'm not convinced though. Will depend on how the JC and Favs contracts are structured and whether the Jazz use the BAE.

Sounds about right. Not sure DL is engaged enough to break out in cold sweats over anything Jazz related though.

DL and JZ asked what JC and Favs wanted, said yes. Now time to do the same with Donovan and Rudy. Our FO barely had to get out of bed.

    That's 125. Where's the other 25+?

I'm not sure how two ways count or what happens with Juwan Morgan, so I counted Brantley and Morgan as 2.7 in salary. Still left the Jazz with as much as 6 million under the apron, which is not really bumping up against the apron even after the 3.6 BAE. With JC and Favs on flat contracts, wiggle...

To add, even if the Favs and JC contracts are flat, they'd start at 22, leaving slightly more than enough for the Jazz to use the BAE.

The Jazz's 6 guaranteed guys + 2 draft picks get them to 106.5. Oni, Morgan, Niang and Brantley add maybe 6 to 112.5. That's 11 or 12 players with the Jazz 26.5 under the apron. Favs and JC could start as low as 20.2 in 20/21 if they're given max raises (sounds like they won't be). So...the...

It'll depend (at least in part) on how the Favs and JC contracts are structured. If the Jazz are willing to pay the tax, they might as well use the BAE, provided there's a worthwhile player to use it on.

It's not entirely clear to me why that's necessarily out of the question. Presumably, you can get either of those guys with the BAE, and the Favs and JC contracts could be structured such that there's plenty of room under the apron to use it. At least two people, including David Locke, are...

Conley Clarkson Mitchell O'Neale Ingles Bogdanovic Favors Gobert A fair bit of talent there. No one new to integrate really; should be a fun team to watch. Unfortunately, still at least one piece away from contending.

Sure. Wouldn't amount to any/much more than veteran minimums if split. But...a couple people are reporting the Jazz are already above the LT and at 14 players, so it sounds like the Jazz are done.
