Is this necessarily the case? How much salary is guaranteed for Niang, NWG, Oni, Morgan and Brantley? When/is there a guarantee date on their contracts?

It'll depend (at least in part) on how the Favs and JC contracts are structured. If the Jazz are willing to pay the tax, they might as well use the BAE, provided there's a worthwhile player to use it on.
