Game Thread Oct 08, 2025 06:00PM MT: Utah Jazz @ Houston Rockets (Preseason)

Size advantages are most impactful on the defensive side—and they get neutered whenever a player has a bad case of ball-watching disease. Keyonte can get that pretty bad.

Game Thread Oct 08, 2025 06:00PM MT: Utah Jazz @ Houston Rockets (Preseason)

I'm still betting on Keyonte as a secondary creator. He and Brice are guys that I want catching the ball with some kind of advantage already created—and then they should quickly put their scoring skills to work or know it's better to move the ball instead. That doesnt mean that they shouldn't...

A lot of nuclear-bad turnovers. And bad rebounding. But! (1) Gotta love the debut from Ace (2) Brice can flat-out ****ing score (3) Hendricks being that comfortable on the perimeter is huge (4) 9 assists and 0 turnovers from Key is amazing WCJ doesn't look like he's pushing Collier out of...

Who am I rooting to lose this season?

This. This would be a great season for Kawhi to miss another 40ish games with some weird inflammation to his leg hairs or something.

Jackpotting Around - The Great Walker Kessler Debate

Guys, we can't sign Braun as long as Bolerhack is around. The disconnect between the spelling and pronunciation of "Braun" would make Craigy's head cave in.

Jackpotting Around - The Great Walker Kessler Debate

I like where you're at conceptually—but I'll never be on the side of people who are trying to sign Trae Young.

I would love to train an AI chatbot on homey's posts. You could have weird/funny trivia diarrhea whenever you wanted.

    Will the Jazz Overachieve?

If they do, then it better be because Kessler is shooting corner 3s, Ace is a ROY candidate, WCJ is playing 25 min+, Hendricks is a beast, and Keyonte is north of 58% true shooting. All of that.

Not sure I can jive with Hardy putting Kessler's name out there like that when the extension talks have hit a standstill. Probably better to leave his name out of the answer. And since the lion's share of the problems with the defense are not Kessler-related, he had ample opportunity to do so.

I mean, sorta. His position makes sense, and he's expressing himself openly and with honesty. That's all good.

    Favorite Non-Finals Jazz Team

Mitchell's rookie year was really fun. Rudy was at his most dominant, and the future felt really bright. I really wish we hadn't pushed all-in when we did (it was a year or two early); and I wish we hadn't pushed all-in with Conley (it should have been a 3-and-D powerwing).... I could keep...

If the Jazz are better than expected it's because...

Keyonte and/or Collier would be my second vote.

If the Jazz are better than expected it's because...

I gotta go with Hendricks and/or Flip. Flip is already showing serious signs. If Hendricks grows substantially toward his ceiling as a defender, then Hendricks+Kessler could have nonlinear impacts on the quality of the defense. If you go from ~28th to ~18th, then that means wins.

Who will be our opening night starting lineup?

Yep. We all should be hoping that he becomes a long-term starter. He's just not going to be in the greatest spot to start the year.
