This should be the case regardless of the pick ramifications. We should simply not break our wildly mobile 7-footer who can get really hampered with nagging injuries. Period.
I think it’s more realistic that we’re having a conversation about getting their 2026 1st for eating Cam and Jonas’s >$30 million in expiring contracts and a 2nds or two to even out the deal.
They also have the option of picking Watson over Braun.
Again, in any case, if I’m the Jazz having the...
Not quite. I believe it’s that teams above the 2nd apron cannot aggregate on their side in a trade? They should certainly be able to do pure salary dumps into another team’s cap-space.
It’s hard for 2nd apron teams to upgrade their rosters, it’s not necessarily hard for them to shed salary (it’s largely designed to incentivize salary cutting).
Sure did. The list of two-way, long, 6’ 8” legit scoring wings is… how many long?
And yeah, max. Nuggets match and that’s painful for a divisional rival. There are too many teams with cap space and not a lot of viable targets either. He also fits what we need to a T. Gotta be aggressive, and...
He plays well enough and the Nuggets will figure out how to keep him. They could match and then trade off a lesser core-piece. We’re probably already there.
Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t throw the max at him as the first order of business in free agency.
My issue with him is less the nature of his departure and more that he was a snake in the locker room. He was really young and handed the keys too early so maybe it’s to be expected but he was pulling underhanded **** for several years by the time the Jazz nuked it.
Dallas belongs in the 1st tier of committed to tanking. They will finish with a worse record than the Jazz.
An unacceptable amount of variability of whether the Jazz keep the pick or not will come down to if New Orleans is capable of beating teams that are literally trying to lose games.
If we can get the perfect piece (one that doesn’t cost much and can check off all the basic skills criteria), and can play both big positions, then let’s do it.
Jalen Smith sounds like a candidate here.
