They can't trade Braun right now anyway. I think because of his extension.

They are barely in the tax right now... by like $400k. I don't see a really easy solution for them to duck it. Maybe trading Strawther or Tyson and doing alternating 10-day deals gets them enough space. Maybe they try to dump Zeke (who has been okay).

For sure. They will make a choice somewhere. I wonder if you could work on a sign and trade with Watson where you send back a pick or maybe they have interest in Hendricks (they think they can make him a budget Watson).

As it sits... if it wasn't crazy I'd match on Watson and trade him or Braun in season for some assets. Don't want to lose them for nothing.

I think you are underestimating the power of the 2nd apron. It's not longer as easy to "just figure it out" and get off money, especially for a notoriously cheap franchise

I think you are underestimating the power of the 2nd apron. It's not longer as easy to "just figure it out" and get off money, especially for a notoriously cheap franchise

It’s hard for 2nd apron teams to upgrade their rosters, it’s not necessarily hard for them to shed salary (it’s largely designed to incentivize salary cutting).

I see a ton of Nuggets fans saying they should retain Peyton Watson at all costs and go into the second apron for a year then just let Cam Johnson’s contract expire. I have bad news for those people.

Not quite. I believe it’s that teams above the 2nd apron cannot aggregate on their side in a trade? They should certainly be able to do pure salary dumps into another team’s cap-space.
