In honor of MLK day: I have a dream, that one day neg-reps will be a thing of the past!
JazzFanzCommunity (JFC), I ask for your vote. Sign the petition and be heard, the overlords of this site ARE listening...we have a voice!
Let's make our little corner of the internets a better, more positive place.

All neg-repping does is cause negative things, like fights, drama, bitching, ill will, bad feelings, etc.
Love, not hate, is the answer bros and moes. We must rid ourselves of this hate and negativityism.



I am open to having a discussion in here, but HH feels that any positives of neg-reps (if any) are minuscule compared to all the negatives.
Everyone can still keep their rep power and reps and what not. Just no more neg-reps. If you dont like someone's post you can sack-up and address them in the thread or just ignore them.

Discuss. But PLEASE VOTE! Every vote counts. Be a part of history.

I rarely neg-rep anyone. The only time I choose to do so is if a post is offensive (overtly crass or racist/bigoted) or if someone has neg-repped me unfairly then I'll return the disfavor. Even if I strongly disagree with someone's opinion I won't neg-rep. That said, I don't think taking away the power is the solution. Some - and you know who you are - would start pushing the envelope even more if there were no fear of peer reprisal. I do think if some posters are being picked on unfairly by another poster or a group and getting neg-repped for just comments/opinions that are not offensive in nature, then the mods should have the power to remove the neg rep. Perhaps the mods should track the neg reps issued (if possible). Someone who is constantly giving out a bunch of neg reps ought to be asked if they're truly justified.

truly offensive, bigoted, etc. posts should be a moderation issue. thats why we have to report button, so mods can look over it.
the neg rep button would be ok if it were just used for how u use it, but it's highly abused.

Both times i was neg repped it helped me realize that i was being a douche and i ended changing my behavior and apologizing to the people i was being a douche to.

So for me personally, the neg reps were a good tool to help me realize i needed to stop what i was doing and change my behavior.

Heaven, I get what you're saying, but sometimes a post isn't quite bad enough to be a mod issue. colton neg-repped me when I deserved it and it did make me re-examine it and realize I crossed the line. Sometimes I've been neg-rep'd by posters who just dislike me for having voiced opinions about some players or about other issues. And it doesn't make sense why a particular post has been neg rep'd. Those are the ones I have an issue with.

ive only been neg once, and it was on something really dumb. i just pos repped the guy that did it, called him an a hole and told him he owed me some rep back. casue it was a dumb thing. he pos repped me the next week and everything is just grand now. i think neg repping is important, it helps posters relize they are being total idiots! pos rep would have zero meaning with out neg rep.

with great power comes great responsibility lol... this is not just any forum. this is a jazz fans forum!!! we are all adults and can control ourseles and nee to just be resposnible with the rep that is given and taken away. i havent really had a bad experince with it. i kind of like the set up. we are in control.

maybe we need to change how pos rep is given, or rep power is established, then? make quality, not quantity, more important. give more weight to pos reps and less weight to # of posts. i am all for pos-rep reform, but thats kind of a different-yet-related issue. im all for that gameface bro.
