I think its sad how Exum gets a free pass, and Burke gets **** on.

Yea, it's not really fair. I think it's mostly to do with personality, and a little bit to do with expectations.

Also, Exum doesn't actually get a free pass on here though. Most game threads are full of guys relentlessly making fun of him.

I haven't been impressed with Cotton. He played all right in inconsequential end-of-season games. But like I said in the latest game thread, he doesn't really do anything well. He's worse than Burke at running the offense. He pushes the pace, which is nice, but he wastes too many possessions with his chucking. He's not much of a defender. He's a meh shooter. He's tiny and it makes it difficult for him to finish at the rim. I don't care if he replaces Burke as I consider the latter worthless, but I don't see him developing into anything more than a passable backup point.

I don't know.. Dude has the best floater on the team and finishes well around the basket.

seriously ?? because despite Dante's painful to watch at times reticence the team actually functions well with him on the court and he plays D Burke frequently costs the team on both ends of the court

We're certainly all entitled to our opinions. And, this being the greatest league in the world, I find it impossible to compare players across the league and actually rank them from superstar to serviceable. So I can't possibly know where Cotton would rank, or what his legacy as a player will be. He went undrafted. As one columnist put it recently "there's a reason Exum was drafted. There's a reason Cotton was not." But for someone who can't run the offence, he's had the best +/- of the guards in the past three games. -3 in the Houston game, but Burke was -18 and Exum -20. They all stunk up the joint, but he shot 7/14, and did have 3 assists. And it was not a meaningless game for Houston. Not sure shooting 50% is the definition of "too much chucking"(?). Snyder has specifically told him to shoot when his shot is there; he ain't winging their offence for heaven's sake. He's doing what Snyder has given him the green light to do, and what Snyder expects of him. He has openly said as much, "I want him takng those shots". No, not the next coming of Isaiah Thomas, I don't think anyway, but he does not belong in the D League. I believe they played him, well, first, Burke's back of course, but to let all teams see him by having game tapes. So I have no idea if he's on this roster next year.

But Snyder likes him:

"You get excited about his potential," Snyder said. "He is a unique guy. He's not a big guy, but he is quick and he is tough and he plays hard. I think everybody could feel and see what we saw tonight and I think, whatever the future holds, he is certainly showing that he is capable of playing in the league."
