Come on gameface, you are smarter than that....... You act as if next year all we can do is draft a guy with our pick and then roll out the exact same roster as this year + the rookie we draft.

Next year we have 2 picks in the epicest draft, and we have a good amount of money to go after a free agents to either improve our bench by a lot, or pick up a very nice starter.

So next year our core (of which burke, burks, and favors are all looking pretty good.... plus I think we all believe Gordon is better than what we are seeing) Plus the franchise player you mentioned (jabari/randle/wiggins/embiid), plus another good role player with the GS pick (McDermott or whoever), Plus a quality starter or a few good bench players (from free agency), Plus maybe marvin, evans, gobert, neto.

That's a pretty damn quality roster...... Now you let that roster simmer for 2 or 3 years and I honestly believe that we have a contender for a title (no homer)

The BIGGEST piece to that title contender though is our own draft pick being in the top 4 next year though, which is in SERIOUS danger........... hopefully DL has a few tricks up his sleeve

Yeah some of that money we thought we had to set aside to max Kanter early in this year can be safely spent elsewhere.

I'm with you, but what worries me is the Jazz either overvaluing a few of our pieces or things falling apart during the simmer process and constantly adding 2-3 more years to the timetable. As we wait for things to come together pieces fall off the back end faster than we can add what we need to "get there"

tl;dr perpetual rebuild

I don't disagree with this necessarily. However, I think most of us would rather see the Jazz tank and fall flat on their faces with high lotto picks that bust than continually adding role players and "competing" for 8-12 in the west. On "bad" years we get a pick in the teens. On "good" years we get to have our heads bashed in by the Thunder or Spurs for 4 games.

I think if we get Jabari, things will suddenly become much clearer. We can easily add nice pieces. We have actually done pretty well with adding nice pieces. Foye, Mo, Millsap, Jefferson, Marvin, Burke, etc are all nice pieces. We just need that franchise player. He doesn't even have to be as good as lebron or Kevin.

Me too. Honestly what I'm most worried about is the Jazz not going all-in this year and nabbing one of those top picks. Without the potential superstar what I said is almost a guarantee.

This summer Lindsey proved that he sees what we see. I'm holding out hope that he'll make a move to get us a bottom 3 record.

I think our tank is still in tact. We arent exactly racking up the wins. We have lost more games than anyone. I think the Jazz have to play a delicate game of balancing progress this year and the tank. In the beginning we were worse than bad, and that had the potential to be damaging to the team. I think the Jazz should and will let this little bit of success pan out for now. Because the odds are that we will sustain enough injuries to temper any overachieving we might have. We are barely a decent team at full strength. With injuries we are terrible. I think we can all feel safe about our chances in this.

I read on espn fantasy basketball that Richard Jefferson sat out practice today with a bad back and is doubtful for tomorrow's game. But I didn't see any local reports about it. Has anyone heard if Richard is really hurt?

I wonder if ther is a real injury or if DOL is helping Richard remember that title hunting season doesn't start until July 1.
(Isn't this Richard's first game back in utah after he made the title hunting comments on the last road trip?)

I haven't heard anything about that. What I did hear, however, was that Gasol won't be making the trip to Utah :P

97.5 on the radio today during the jake and tony show reported that Jefferson is doubtful for tomorrow's game.

Hopefully we are trying to tank. The lakers at this point are just as vulnerable as they've ever been. I could easily see us beating them by a god 8-15 pts tomorrow. Seriously, look at their starting 5. Talk about ravaged by injury, sheesh!

This tanking stuff is hard. It's like the people who put all their work into not doing their jobs and getting away with it.
