We always get overly excited after a series of road losses. I hate to be Debbie Downer, but Utah has some EASY games left, too. And the Jazz, despite their bad losses on the road, have also won against some very good teams at the ESA. Jazz should be favorites to win AT HOME against Orlando, Detroit, LAL and probably New York and New Orleans. Also wouldn't count out a win coming against Portland or Memphis or even Dallas at home. Less likely, but not implausible is stealing a game on the road at New Orleans, Denver or Minnesota.

In short, yes...I'm thrilled with the Boston victory over Miami and the Sacramento victory over Washington. But don't count those superstars before they're hatched.

If that does happen and we jump from 5th to 2nd but we choose ANYONE other than Wiggins or Parker, then I would be angry. Imagine taking Randle, Vonleh, or Smart at #2. ARRRRGGGG!!!! The newest www.nbadraft.net update has us at #4 taking Smart and leaving Exum for the Lakers to pick #5. That would be a disappointment too, but not as extreme.

And thankfully New Orleans already has 27 wins, because they have a brutal schedule to finish. But Detroit is still on the radar, with only 5 home games left. Really, it comes down to Utah winning 5 (or fewer) games. Utah, Boston, Sacramento, LA Lakers, and possibly Detroit are all on pace for 26-27 wins. Just have to hope for no unexpected wins. Those come-from-ahead home losses to Atlanta, Dallas and the LA Clippers were pivotal. Let's hope the same happens again in our home games against Memphis, Dallas and Portland (not to mention road games against mid-tier teams). A couple of surprise wins could very well be the difference between a top-5 pick and the 9th or even 10th selection.

Jazz have 22 wins and 46 loses. they've proven that they can lose more than they can win. New York is playing better and want to make the playoffs. They are not out of contention. Minnesota has owned the Jazz this year. LAL is a push. They will probably spilt with New Orleans. Denver is a push either way. I expect them to beat Orlando and Detroit.

Several factors besides talent/coaching affect how teams play. Are they still in contention, schedule -backtoback or end of road trip/beginning, injuries, home/away. Jazz play better at home but they still have been beaten quite a bit at home. All this is speculation but I think if the Jazz go 5-9 they will be in pretty good shape. 3-11 would be even better.

Utah has the easiest schedule, IMO. I base that primarily on the number and quality of opponents the teams will play at home and add in road games against Milwaukee, Philly or Orlando. My prediction is Utah is good for 4-6 more wins; Lakers 2-4; Boston 3-5; Sacramento 2-4; Detroit 3-5. Lakers do finish against SA, which will likely rest all their starters if they've wrapped up home court.

In sum, Lakers at #4, Detroit barely hangs on to the #8 spot and Boston, Sacramento and Utah tie for #5-#7.

Like the optimism..... i think denver is much better than us though so i dont think its a push with them. Healthy denver is pretty damn good.

I see Utah winning home games against Orlando, Detroit, New Orleans and Lakers. Jazz have played well at home so they could surprise Memphis, Portland or Dallas. Road games against NO and Min worry me. Min will have nothing to play for while Corbin will want to finish strong; he'll probably use that game to unveil the core5 starting line-up.
