What's new

14th Tank Platoon

Yeah. That was crap. Too bad Milwaukee couldn't keep up either. As long as the Jazz end up in the bottom 4 I'll be pretty happy. There's a good player to be had in those top six picks. After that, the drop off looks significant.

Orlando and Bucks are hopeless causes. Its a race for third if you ask me. Chicago beating Orlando is a good thing. And Milwaukee has 2 wins in 17 games. They aren't going to pass the Jazz. Hopefully the Lakers can win. NO is on a bad streak too. They need to start winning some games.

This is dead on. The best the Jazz can tank is 3rd. Still good odds to get that star piece to add to what they already have, but they have to stay in that range. It's starting to look like all of Favors, Kanter, Hayward, Burks and Burke are capable of turning in good performances the rest of the season. That does not bode well for the tank unless DL shreds the bench and makes it impossible for them to keep up when the Core5 aren't on the floor.

Jazz are looking to me like they will get the 10th pick or right around there :-(

Long ago i said goodbye to wiggins and jabari. Then i waved goodbye to embiid, randle and exum. Recently i said audios to smart, and gordon.

At this point im hoping for vonleh i guess.

Time to start watching indiana hoosier games.

Or the dude from ucla (lavine?)

its depressing.

But at the jazz are in fact fun to watch play

I will say this- If Kanter and Burks are as close to as good as they've looked recently, the Jazz don't need to tank. They are a .500 team with young and improving players that needs a couple more pieces - a mid-lottery pick and a solid FA signing or two. If Kanter and Burks are close to what we've seen, the Jazz have five really good young players and should have a chance to contend in 2-3 years by adding some bench pieces and improvement and experience from the five. Granted, those are some pretty hefty "ifs", but what the hell - why not have a sip of the Kool-Aid?

But in a few years the Jazz won't be able to afford 5-6 players that all demand over 10 million per year. They need a young star that is cheap for the next 7 years (relatively) to go with the 3-4 players they end up keeping from this group.

That's just it. If all five guys end up being really good, you have the luxury of letting one go, if you have to for salary purposes, and keeping four good players and building around them.

At the beginning of the year, if Corbin would have committed to the youth movement, this season was a win-win. You commit to the youth movement, you're terrible, you have an opportunity to pull the trigger on a young star. Or you commit to the youth movement, you end up in the back half of the lottery, that means your young players are pretty damn good, so you just build around them with other solid pieces.

2013 draft: "This sucks, we are going to get Schroeder and have no chance at Burke." Ends up getting Burke.

2014 draft: "We gunna get Parker or Wiggins or Both for sure!" Gets Levine or Vonleh.

*Sigh*

Mixed night for the tank.

Jazz lost and Sactown, Philly and Boston won. Magic and Bucks lost. Cavs are down 1

I will take it...... it could be worse! (The 2014 season slogan)

Good night for the tank. More positive than negative. Especially with Denver knocking off Golden State. Curry still logging way too many minutes. That team is a significant injury from the lottery. They seem very feast or famine. Glad to see them come back down to earth again.
