2011 draft.....

I don't think T. Jones is a headcase. He comes across as a nice guy.

I think he will be a successful SF in the league, like a Lamar Odom or Jamal Mashburn-type with an all-around game. That's a nice type of player to have.

To me, he sounds exactly like a guy that we DON'T need. If they can't rebound and block shots like a maniac (Biyombo) or they don't have a sweet spot up shot and decent perimeter defense (notice, please, that Jimmer doesn't apply here), or they're not Kyrie Irving, then we need somebody else more than them.

(btw NCJazz, I'm not insinuating that you're advocating for Burks)
 
Marcus Morris anybody? I am definitely warming up to Marcus Morris from Kansas, he can play either small forward or power forward. Has range out to the three point line, shooting 34% from the three point line not the best percentage, but still pretty good. Morris is 6-9 like I said unlike his brother Markieff he can play small forward and personally he is rising up on draft boards so I would take him at #6 or preferably at #12 I am not so sure he would be available though.
 
I really don't understand the love for Jones. He played 4 in college where he would be horribly ineffective in the pros. Which means he has to learn the 3. And he isn't a shooter or a driver. He's just an athletic specimen that everyone projects will assimilate. He looks like a less accomplished Aminu to me, and I can't get excited about that.
 
My personal thought is KOC is going to target Knight with the 6. He fits too much--potential, position of need, athleticism, character, all that crap about being 'smart.' My dream for the 12 is that Lamb kid. He won't be ready for at least a year, but I like his upside. The alternative is KOC thinks there are decent bets in the late first and trades the 12 for more picks, like a late 1st and a 2nd. But until the workouts begin sorting players out, it's purely a guess.

At #12 he wouldn't be bad. Jones played poorly in the tournament but had a great freshmen year where he did a little bit of everything: score, defend, and board. He is primarily a 4, but could play 3 against some teams much like Millsap. He is taller than listed as well, must have grown some, easily 6'9" in shoes by the eye test.
 
After watching nearly all the playoff games it's pretty obvious to me that the Jazz not only need guards that can create and score, but they need to seriously upgrade their bigmen.

Fess is garbage. Evans is weak. Al is meh... He typically needs the ball a lot to be effective. Jury is still out on whether he can be an effective big man for a winning team. Millsap is way too short.

Favors would be our only legit player that could matchup against Bosh, Aldrich, Duncan, Gasol/Bynum, Randolf/Gasol, KG, Amare, Nene, and Dwight Howard.

So if a player like Biyombo or Kanter (although I have reservations about his athleticism and durability) is available when we pick, I think we should take one. Our frontline is still undersized, nonathletic, and pretty defensively inept (especially Millsap. Who should really be thinking about moving to the SF spot).

Even if they don't turn out to be great, at least they're big. They'll bring size.
 
Someone tell me if I'm crazy, but the more i think about it the more I like Vesely. Watching his YouTube videos have me thinking he could be good, and before people go nuts on me about how highlight videos are misleading... I understand that.

He seems to have a tenacity about him and a nastiness about him. He seems to attack the rim with force and a reckless abandon, and a cockiness that you need to make it in the NBA. What I'm trying to say is he seems to have that it factor, the drive and motor to be good.

What do some of you guys think....

Tomic is not slow at all. He is quite quick for a big man, which really makes you wonder why is such a poor help defender.

Since a stud wing isn't availabe I would be happy with getting Biy or Kanter @ 6, then maybe someone like Kawhi @ 12.
If we use this draft to get tougher, meaner, and upgrade our big men it will be a success. We need to replace Fes, and the Dutchman.
 
If we miss out on Biyombo, maybe we could pick up Lucas Nogueira("Bebê") out of Brazil later on?
