2011 draft.....

Kanter's measurements are good, but Cousins blow his out of the water. There isn't a Cousins of this year's draft. If Kanter and Biyombo had a baby, maybe.

Cousins can't jump at all though. Enes is at least an average leaper as we saw by his almost FT line dunk.

Jumping is less important than physical size for someone who you want playing down low. And part of the reason Cousins can't jump is because he is a fatty. If he could get his body fat below 10% he would have a lot more mobility.

Kanter's measurements are good, but Cousins blow his out of the water (7' 5.75" wingspan, 9' 5" standing reach, 4" difference in both in favor of Cousins). There isn't a Cousins of this year's draft. If Kanter and Biyombo had a baby, maybe.

I understand that relative to the field you could argue Kanter has the best measurements for a high-profile big, but in the scheme of things, they are ample. Not elite. Cousins is elite. That's why people were freaking out last year.

Cousins is overweight though (14% body fat), can't run the floor for more than several minutes at a time, can't jump much and has limited lateral movement. Cousins has great measurements, fluidity and touch--Kanter is more stiff--but I think Kanter can also have 20-20 games from time to time.

The only concern would be if Kanter is somehow the Greg Oden of this draft.

The point is nobody is confusing Kanter with Duncan who was as sure a thing as there ever was in the NBA draft just because they're physically similar.

Kanter is big enough to play C. He's as big as Tim Duncan, not as good as Tim Duncan. One of the concerns was whether he was really a C.

Kanter can play center. He isn't ideal at center - he's better at PF. Same goes for Jefferson, Favors, Memo. All are PFs. But there aren't any Centers worth taking at 3 in this draft. You gotta go BPA at 3 and that might be Kanter. Then you have a premium asset which you can trade, or trade one of the other PF/C's on the Jazz roster.

Again - Irving, Dwill2, Kanter: one of them will be BPA at 3.

Did you guys catch the interview with Fredette, where the reporter asked him which players he liked and tried to emulate? First he said John Stockton, mentioned he wanted to master his one handed pass. Then he said Deron Williams, and talked about his crossover move that he's been working. haha, I was like "man, he's campaigning to be picked by KOC." He did add Steve Nash at that point, and mentioned his ability to make off-balance wacky shots. Had to throw someone else in there so it wasn't so obvious he wanted to be picked by the Jazz but the reporter didn't seem to catch the last one 'cause her response was "so just the Utah Jazz."

Yeah, he would LOVE to be picked by the Jazz. ...if I thought he could develop the ability to pass like Nash I'd be tempted to take him 12. He's fun to root for and it's nice to have a guy WANT to play here. There wouldn't be a need to trade him before his contract's up and he bolts for the big city. I just don't know about him. If there was no one else at 12 then I'd be ok rolling the dice on Fredette, but there a quite a few other decent option at 12 I think I might prefer to gamble on.

It drives me crazy anyone thinks Singleton is worth drafting. DraftExpress has him at 19 which is about right, but he's a late first. His offensive numbers aren't good, but they look passable at a glance on the season. Inside the numbers is where you can see the enormous flaws.

In ACC games he shot 40%, 29 from 3
He only scored over 20 four times which included a killer game against Butler, 2 ACC games, and Auburn (the dregs of the SEC)
He had a few nice games against quality competition, but mostly he got eaten up the better the teams were.

And that's after 3 years in college. Singleton is a defensive specialist. That's it. You don't draft that at 12.
