Don't look now, but nbadraft.net has Barnes going second overall.
A talented lefty wing forward with tremendous versatility
If you could get Kanter at 6 and T.Jones at 12 maybe you could wait til the following year's draft (the Golden State pick) and grab UNC's Marshall as your PG of the future. He's touted as the best passer and the main reason UNC turned around their season - causing Barnes' stock to go up. He's compared to Mark Jackson. Just talking about the way Jackson played the game (and not his locker room dividing ways) I think he was totally Utah Jazz kinda PG.
Hey, I'm not against UNC - I'm just pro Utah Jazz. And if Barnes stays in the tournament and keeps showing everyone how good he is going to be, the Jazz won't have a chance to draft him. He might leapfrog Kyrie.
I gotta root for Marquette.
We UNC to win the tourney, if they do I don't think Barnes stays. That's good for us even if we don't draft him, it allows us to get someone we couldn't get if he stayed in school
I watched Burks play last night in the NIT and was pretty impressed. He's basically like the bizarro (evolved) CJ!!! in that he takes it to the rim every time instead of jacking up 3s and he is right-handed. Also, he is already physically "mature" at 19. Supposedly he was under the weather, got an IV at half time, yet still torched Kent State for 25 (11 for 18), 10, 4 assists, 4 steals in 33 minutes. He had one particularly impressive reverse layup late in the game on which he was fouled but it wasn't called. I would definitely endorse him for the second lotto pick.
Is Barnes really staying in school if they don't win it all?
Count me as impressed too. I especially liked the way he handled the ball. I could see him playing both SG/PG in the NBA.
