What's new

2011 draft.....

I have been trying to be excited about this draft for awhile now even though it is weak. We have high draft picks that could move up but Barnes going back to school has me really depressed, that was my last hope for some reason. There are 2 maybe three decent picks at the top and then a crap shoot of players that may or may not make it in the NBA. The 2-3 players at the top are not solid top picks either compared to most years.

This is going to be the year the Jazz win the lottery and get a top 3 player who ends up being a solid rotational player and that's it.

If Kings draft Knight and we end up picking Jimmer with our first pick I will cry. I like Jimmer but I will cry like a grown man never should.

I have been pushing for Alec Burks and Bismack Biyombo the past 3 weeks to my friends and family. And than Draft Express updates our picks to these 2 guys.

I would love to have both of these guys. I think Alex Burks is a poor man Brandon Roy. And Biyombo looks like a great player. Worst case he is a role player who can only average 10 points 10 rebounds and 3 blocks per game. But if that is his limit that is fine with me. And please no one compare him to other African players. Its a horrible comparison. This guy is not afraid of contact like those other players. He is very aggressive and has a relentless motor unlike past players from africa. Having Favors with a 7'4 winspan and Biyombo with a 7'7 wing span would be awesome. He has a real NBA body and his could develop. People compare him to Ben Wallace but this guy has a great touch around the basket for someone with his basketball history.

Trade Millsap for a starting wing player. Trade Bell for nothing.

Harris - 2nd round draft pick/Veteran
SG from trade - Burks
Hayward - Miles - Evans
Favors - Biyombo
Jefferson - Okur - Fesenko

This is a good draft for us. We get tougher, and add more offense.

Than I would draft Darius Morris from Michigan with the 2nd round pick for back up point guard. Than get a veteran PG and let them fight it out for the back up position.

Personally I think Hayward is more suited as a SG - he has the speed and height to guard a SG, but not really the physicality (not yet anyway) to guard a SF.

I'd move Hayward to SG and try to trade or draft a physical/slashing SF.

I don't think he has the speed to guard SG's in the league. I think he Kobe is old so he has a hard time getting around longer players but Hayward has no chance of guarding the quicker SG's.
I personally like Jared Dudley and would think it would be cool to trade Millsap for Dudley and there first round draft pick. Than Hayward and Dudley could switch off between SG and SF depending on match ups. Dudley is a great all around player but plays good defense and can hit the 3.

But I could be wrong. Hayward could probably do a good enough job against most SG's. My dream would be to get Biyombo and Derrick Williams.

Harris - Darius Morris (Michigan)
Hayward - Miles
Williams - Miles
Favors - Biyombo
Jefferson - Okur - Fesenko

The Jazz don't have a 2nd rounder this year. They had to give that to the Bulls to get the S & T for Big Waste of Time.

That said, I hope they acquire one. Charles Jenkins looks great to me. I also like David Lighty and Darius Morris a lot as well.

I dont really understand this whole 2 and 3 debate. Its not that really that big of deal. Hayward can play either position. That gives us flexibility. Pick the most capable player, it doesnt matter if he is a 6'4 SG, or a 6'8 SF.

To everyone high on Burks, What is he good at? From the limited stuff Ive heard about him is that he is a ball dominate ISO SG, who cant really shoot that well. Is that what we want?

Unfortunately, have not seen him that much, but seems like a recent draft pick whom he might compare to is Derozan.
