What's new

2011 draft.....

Donatas looks really great offensively. And I read he's really cocky which is good too. But it seems I read that he isn't very interested in defense.
I was really excited about him in last year's draft before he pulled out. Someone wanna refute the knock on his defense? Does his offensive talent translate to wins?

Again bentley spot on about the defense.

I think i'll be the first person to vocalize support for Kawhi Leonard. He's got that sort of length and athleticism that would be perfect at the small forward spot. Honestly he seems like the safest bet to me, non-bust status.

Jrue Holiday is another good PG found @ 17.

If we're picking @ #6 we better not take a PG.

Think size.

We can look @ points @ #12. Or we can just ride Harris and Earl and Hayward next year and think PG next year.

"cocky" is not good. Especially when the guy doesn't give a **** about defense or rebounding. Or power. And he's a big. That's a ****ing problem. And overconfidence is something that shatters when you face real-*** competition and you get destroyed. After that, what is there even to like about the kid?

Maybe I'm wrong, but there is nothing that screams 'NBA player' to me about the guy. Couldn't be less interested, especially since I hear that he completely mails in games.

I agree size first if there if the right guy is there. If the 3 big men we are looking at with# 6 are gone I hope we take someone like Knight.
We can try again with pick 12.

The point is we are looking to add a big men first. If the guys we want aren't there then we look for BPA.

Agreed. I really want to see what Harris can do with a training camp, preseason, and regular season (depending on a lockout) with the Jazz before we use a top 10 pick on a PG. I have a feeling he and Hayward will compliment each other really well.

If he can't get it done next season we have another lotto pick we can spend on a PG. There's some good size in this draft and the Jazz have the opportunity to address our biggest concerns, rebounding and interior defense.

Here a photo that gives perspective of the 7 footer that just entered the draft, Lucas Nogueira

I like the defensive ability in this young player. Have not seen him take any jump shots, however...

For some reason I am liking t jones more and more. I just don't think he will be there at 12. If we could get biyombo and jones mmmmmm that will solve a lot of rebounding issues.

Well, Kobe's cocky and I think it serves him well in the win column. But it makes me absolutely abhor him. I prefer to actually LIKE my team, regardless of wins. Dunno. I wonder if Bargnani is a good comparison for Donatas. I mean Bargnani is pretty good - he just can't carry a team. But yeah, I think there are better options than Donatas at 6 and at 12.

I'm not a huge fan of these super skinny yet tall athletic SF types (Batum, AK, and Dunleavy come to mind). Oftentimes they lack the lateral quickness to stick with most SFs. Just look @ AK...

I'd much rather have a decent scorer(paul piece, Deng, Hedo, Grant Hill, Galinari etc) and solid player who can hold his own against postup SFs and not be too tall to stay with others. Or a deadeye shooter @ SF, like Battier, Ariza, Danny Granger, Durant, etc.

I just feel that playmaking should mostly be done by the PGs and SGs. A personal preference I know...

So unless Jan Vesely is a can't miss prospect, I'd rather pass.

If we go after a SF, I'd rather go after a more proven, fundamentally sound, and physically "tougher" prospect like Leonard or T. Jones.

I think this is pretty wise. Though I'm willing to admit that Irving may be worth a top pick. Spending a top 10 pick on a PG generally goes against what I think is wise, but I think Irving is worth debating - should the Jazz win the lottery. We'll wait and see. But Knight, as good as he is, is not worth a top 10 pick.
