This guy is just a basketball player. Given the choice of 15 min a 3 or 30 min at 4, he'll play 4. He played PF in college. I think all this stuff about him playing SF is just people in his camp telling him that it will alleviate the issues of his stock dropping because he's an "undersized 4" (which as I mentioned a couple posts ago isn't entirely true).

I'm convinced that the only reason he has been emphatic about playing the 3 is that he does not want to be labeled as a tweener. I'm sure his agent told him to tell everyone that he wants to play the 3, because most people would prefer a bigger 3, to an undersize 4. Personally I think he's a 4. The guy is Blake Griffin lite with an outside shot. It's blowing my mind that people are talking about passing on him if he falls to us. If he does, then I trade Millsap in a heartbeat.

I am not against getting Williams. I have my doubts he can play the three now but he made himself a great 3 pt shooter so if he loses some weight and works on his handle then why not? Even if he is a four I am ok with it because a rotation of Favors, V, and Williams is a great young rotation. I still prefer Kanter but I would be just as excited about Williams even more so if he can also play the 3.

I could've guessed who said that if I didn't already know. Givony has his mind made up (which still causes me concern since I GENERALLY am a disciple of his site).

I've said earlier on that he could be a mismatch-driven forward-version of Kevin Martin. I think that is closer to his basement than his ceiling (especially since that doesn't take into consideration his ability to physically impose his will at times [boards, loose balls, transition, finish through contact, make spectacular defensive plays, get really stoked]), and that is pretty rad.
 
It doesn't really matter if Williams falls to 3. KOC's job isn't to figure out who he's going to take at 3. It's to figure out who he wants and manipulate the draft to get that player with the best value. So if his board says JV is the best guy, he tries to figure out who he can safely trade with and what they'll offer to switch. Worst case, he drafts JV at 3.

The mistaken assumption is that Williams is absolutely BPA at 3. He may or may not be.

It's been pretty unanimously reported that teams consider Williams and Irving a tier above everybody else.

Yeah, but the point is that other teams are going to be willing to trade up to get Williams.

Of course. But KOC's moves are pretty limited in the first place. If Kanter/Williams are not the guys KOC wants, he still can't move down very far to get the guy he does want. Which leaves Cleveland, Toronto, Washington, and the Kings as his only real trade partners.

The wild card is a player trade for the pick, but I still can't see Williams' availability being that much more attractive than Kanter to facilitate it.
 
I really want Knight... the idea of having a solid, home-grown "floor general" again is just a comforting feeling
 
I know some people hate hypotheticals, but I think we're all looking for something to occupy ourselves with until 6/23. Anyways, just wanted to see how people think the draft would have panned out if Sullinger/Jones/Barnes had declared.
