2012 Draft: Predraft Camps & Workouts

Chad Ford:
Another big group workout happening in Minnesota today and tomorrow. All 30 teams are there … here's a look at who's playing.
Group 1 at 2:30 pm today: Tomas Satoransky, J'Covan Brown, Khris Middleton, John Shurna, Miles Plumlee, Drew Gord
Group 2 today: Casper Ware, Scott Machado, Ramone Moore, Kevin Murphy, Jae Crowder, Quincy Acy
Group 3 on Friday at 9:30 am: Kim English, Orlando Johnson, Tony Mitchell Robbie Hummel, Garrett Stutz, Justin Hamilton
Group 4 on Friday: Marcus Denmon, Darius Johnson-Odom, JaMychal Green, Mike Scott, Kyle O'Quinn, Robert Sacre
The workouts in Minnesota will include drills and 3-on-3 action. Obviously the group is a bit disappointing. No one in our Top 30

C'mon KOC look at O'Quinn

I know Robbie Hummel has had a history of knee trouble but he could be a camp invite if he doesn't get drafted. When healthy (I know that is rarely) the kid can play.

He can't play in the NBA. Unathletic tweener with knee problems.

Sam Amico: Lots of NBA Draft buzz coming out of combine in Chicago this morning, more than I've probably ever heard. And it hasn't even started yet. One Western Conference GM just told me: "Every NBA first-round mock draft we see today is likely 80-90 pct wrong. Dead wrong." He's right Regardless of what you hear, lots of things will change after NBA draft combine. Someone fans don't even know yet could be in top 10 in week

Sam Amick
Draft notes: He may not be the next coming of LeBron James, but sources say Cleveland is very likely to take North Carolina's Harrison Barnes with the No. 4 pick on draft day

Chris Littman:
Per @Sam Amick: Anthony Davis, Bradley Beal, Andre Drummond, Dion Waiters, and Harrison Barnes not doing running/shooting combine drills

Not suprised anymore when a prospect doesn't participate, but its always interesting to see who decides not to. I get Davis and Drummound, Davis is #1, and Drummound, like Kanter last year, could only lose by participating, perhaps Barnes if he knows he will be going to Clev @4. But why Waiters and Beal?

Maybe Waiters has a 'promise'. and he's trying to hide himself from other teams. I love the drama of the draft.

The thing that screwed us was GSW's free fall, and Houston losing 7 of their last 8 games. You can't blame the Jazz for how they played.

KOC talks to Locke from Chicago.

I didn't think there was anything new, but still a good listen.

Highlights: Jazz have 4 young players, may not want to add more youth.

Jazz look for 'toughness' (maybe too much?)

Mentions scouting players that may not be the focal point of the team or the offense (does anyteam other than UNC, Duke or Kentucky have role players worth scouting?)

scouting in the areana you can see body language, how the guy runs to the huddle, does he take coaching, who shows up early to warm up, -things you can't see on tape.

Jazz get to interview 18 draftees wouldn't tell Locke who they are interviewing. (If I remember from previous years-The jazz put in requests and the league assigns players to the jazz, some of the players the Jazz request will not be made availabe to them, some players the Jazz didn't request will be assigned to the Jazz.)

Teams with multiple picks will really impact the draft.

I don't believe this at all.
