2012 Draft: Predraft Camps & Workouts

Uggh, I hate the lane agility test so much. The results can never be right.

Quincy Acy somehow had a higher agility time than everyone at the combine, and by a wide margin?

MKG managed to have one of the slower agility times?

These things just can't be true.

So true.

Barnes certainly had impressive combine numbers. However, it doesn't really matter because as I recall KD didn't do so well in the combine and we know how well that turned out.

They usually don't matter, but I think a good showing can bump you up a spot or two, especially if the biggest question mark is athletic ability. I think if you draft position is already set, a bad showing really won't matter.

I know bench pressing is really a non-significant stat but it is still embarrassing when guys can't bench 185 lbs once. Where is the pride?

I know that Barnes athletic numbers look really good, but I just never saw him play like he was that athletic. Film never lies people, remember that as these workouts are going on.

Yeah, I find it odd, especially when seniors can't do it. Did Kansas really not make Tyshawn Taylor ever lift?

I would guess he is probably a slower jumper and explodes better off of two feet. That might explain why his no-step is so high and close to his full approach vertical measurement.

These numbers should only be used as a piece of the equation. Potential can be best measured here .. but the eyeball test is equally important, imo. Two guys can have the exact same numbers and one just gets off the floor FASTER .. another has better side-to-side vs. lateral quickness. Amazingly, some stats don't 'translate' ..

All this talk about Drummond having Lebron level athleticism seems to be a farce. I think Kanter could put him in his shop.

Kanter / Drummond

Max Vert: 32.5 / 33.5
Agility: 11.30 / 10.83
Sprint: 3.26 / 3.39
Bench: 14 / 10

Wow, pretty amazing .. no doubt, though, that Drummond is far more explosive.

Lesson #129 why combine measurements aren't really accurate.

These combine numbers may show what a player *can* do, but they don't show what a player *will* do.

I don't know what Steve Nash's agility numbers look like, but for years he used to outrun just about everyone else on the court.

Can't believe I missed this:

Yannis Koutroupis: BYU forward Noah Hartsock is working out for the Utah Jazz on the 16th.

This is a stretch, but I am desperate for Jazz news. Has anyone heard anything else about a Jazz Workout on Saturday?

Not unusual for Jazz to host a local kid workout, they invite him in so foreign scouts can take a look, but don't they usually have more than one player in for a workout?

Artem Klimenko is a very intriguing future prospect. 18 years old, 6'11.75" without shoes, 228, with a frame to truly add muscle. And a motor and streak to him.
