2013 BEAST JazzFanz Current Players Only - OFFICIAL DRAFT THREAD

Ugli smart

Klay Thompson over iggy all day. I actually was eyeing Klay and Gordy. Ugli made my decision easy.

Iggy just isn't that smart or clutch. Never been that impressed with him.

I wonder why he got such a big contract.

And it can't be based off potential since he has been in the league for a long time and you know what you get with him

yes at the end.

I'm select Jrue Holiday

and even he is 18161718 years old, i select Kevin Garnett. His only role is defense and knockin down shots from high post

I think meh was a good description

But I was so wrong about iggy that you shouldn't listen to me.

Oh and I was out in the first round of the all time fantasy thing too

Then looking at his stats last year..... not that good.

Maybe I'm remembering iggy from 3 years ago and he has started to go downhill

If you check the links I provided:
He held opposite SGs to a PER of 12.7 and SFs to a PER of 9.9.
The Nuggets allowed 104 points per 100 possessions with Iguodala on the court and 108.1 when he sat on the bench.
He achieves a +- of 3.3 defensively per 100 possessions, the 3rd highest value for wing defender in the league behind Tony Allen and Aminu.
Midway through the season he was 2nd best isolation defender, and the only wing player in that category in the top5. He finished the season 11th there. But I'm confident he can go back to where he was after leaving that disfunctional Denver team.
Midway through the Nuggets allowed only 100 points with him on the court and still 108 w/o him.
The Nuggets moved from the 21st best defense to the 11th best only by adding Iguodala.
I'm not finished. He caused the 5th most TOs of all players guarding the Pick and Roll.
Oh and he's a good passer, averaging more than 5 assists per game.
On my team he'll even see his TOs decrease, as he's the 3rd option at best. He'll play the strong corner and after Parker comes off a Dirk screen he'll be the 2nd pass option either cutting on the baseline for an alley oop or after his defender sucked to Parker he can make the open 3.
In this years playoffs he was the only good player for the Nuggets with a PER of 20 and a trueshooting of 62%. He shot 48% 3 pointer on 4.8 tries against the Warriors. Over the whole season he was a 33.2% 3 point shooter and in 11/12 he shoot 39% when he had developed chemistry with his teammates over multiple years.
I wouldn't underestimate the impact of playing on a new team. He's a good rebounder grabbing over 5 in every year of his career. His career low in steals is 1.5 and he's a 72.4% freethrow shooter over that span.
But what's most important is his defense and everyone who understands the game of basketball will realize he's a terrific fit with my 1-2 punch of Parker and Dirk who can str8 up light up teams running the pick and roll/pick and pop. He won't be forced to do bad isolations. He'll simply stick to his strengths with my team:
Defend, cut to the basket for the pass, move away from the ball and shoot open 3s at times.

Btw: I think if Iggy played for the Jazz he would be a fan favorite. He plays hard every single night, he's humble and has high basketball IQ.

Iguodala has the 5th lowest point per possession number in the league when defending the player with .8

I wasn't that fast. I just gathered facts. And facts say he is not yet washed up. He's still the 2nd best wing defender behind Tony Allen. Plus I can contain his weaknesses in my team concept. Btw Denver offered him a contract, but he said from the beginning: Cya nerds, I get the **** out of this **** hole! They offered 5 years $60M.
