2014-15 Rookies Watch

Julius Randle is shooting 35% for the preseason so far. The only game where he has shot 50% was the 2nd game against Utah. He's not just performing poorly, but laughably bad.

He's averaging 6 and 4, along with 3 fouls and 1.6 TO's all in 17 minutes. Lulz.

Oh, sorry…those were just his last 5 games.

He's averaging a much better 41% from the field, and 44% from the line.

I've said all last season long that Randle's floor is solid and his ceiling is limited. Still feel that way.. his numbers, to this point, will all get better and it won't take long.. but he's not a first and maybe not even a second option, ever.

Great assessment. He can be a solid player, but I don't see him as a star. I think ROY comes down to Parker or Noel.

They need to put Randle on the move for him to be successful I think. More Amare, less Malone as Locke would put it. Let him handle the ball a little bit too - he can create for himself and others.

Broken record, I know..

But give him a shred of isolation at the top of the key and allow him to beat his man and get some steam... unstoppable. He's not super quick, but strong as fuh and can handle well enough to get by his guy. He will finish.

Sounds a lot like how the Heat plays LeBron....

Shabazz Napier is having a pretty good preseason and is getting a lot of run with 20 min + per night with Miami. Game before last he went for 25 with 14 FTA's that kind of stuff will get him more PT.

I understand that Napier had a very bad Summer League so the chances of him ever panning out as a player are close to zero. Nothing is as good an indicator of career success than summer league play as a rookie. . .

A rookie that I'm excited about and I'll be very interested to follow throughout the season is my pornstache boy Spencer Dinwiddie.

He's one of these new age euro type wings that are really getting more popular in the NBA. Good skillset, very good footwork, high BBIQ(in Spencer's case also real world IQ) also a high motor and willingness to play defense.
He's not jumping the highest, he is neither the strongest wing, nor the fastest, he shoots good, yet not exceptional.
Really good all around talent and he's my 2nd rounder sleeper pick for this season. Detroit has locked him up for 3 seasons. And I believe he can become a real impact player.

Really excited he could return so fast after tearing his ACL early midway through his junior season.

It's pretty well documented here on Jazz fan that I didn't like Marcus Smart... don't wanna rub it in but he had a tough game tonight:

In 11 min: 2pts, 0-7 FG, 0-5 3pt, 1reb, 1assist, 2 TO.

Julius Randle not playing at all and poorly before that. Probably because he wasn't playing SF.
