Osu played zero division 2 schools.

Tcu and baylor both had division two schools on thier schedule this year doe

Because playing a championship game gives credibility to that champion. Listen, the Big 12 needs to get with the program and expand so they can join everyone else in having conference championships. Unless the Big 12 has a team that runs the table, they're always going to be left out because the other big conferences have a championship game. whether you agree with it or not, in the eyes of most committee members, having that championship game gives the conference champion a leg up on those conference champions who don't play a championship game.

i honestly don't think its political either. Had texas lost one game and been in the same position as Baylor and TCU, I still think the committee would take the 4 teams from leagues that had conference championship games. It just makes the decision making process so much easier when you do this.

Big 12? Time to expand! They have no other choice.

You guys clearly aren't following what I'm trying to say. I am not discussing schedule strength, I am saying the committee will pick who they believe to be the best teams. You know, like what they're supposed to do. How did Wichita St. get a one seed last year? Their schedule strength wasn't as good as most teams seeded below them. How did Utah get to play Alabama in that BCS bowl a while back? Was it their rigorous Mountain West schedule?

Y'all assume having the strongest schedule means that that team is better?

If you are so concerned w/ strength of schedule, you should compare TCU's to Ohio State. I haven't looked, but I'd guess TCU's is rated tougher.

TCU beats Baylor in a conference championship game and so the committee still has to pick between OSU and TCU? Teams from different conferences? That's really difficult, and it doesn't fix much of anything.

Bro, quit playin. I understand you like the Big 12, but you know it's the lack of a conference championship that left them in the cold. You are a smart dude.
 
I'll bring this up since we are all thinking about it... I think BYU is going to be given a chance to join in the next 2 years. Whether or not they pull the trigger remains to be seen. I think many involved in the athletic programs would bend on BYU TV to join a conference. Bronco has made his opinion on getting into a conference clear. But I'm not sure if those above him feel so strongly.

Interesting times.

I hope for the sake of sports in this state that BYU joins the Big 12. How great would it be to have USC play up at Rice and Texas play down in Provo? Huge for fans, restaurants and other local businesses, and great for the overall perception of our state.

Yep. That clearly makes them the better team. That is the finitude of the committee's criteria. Shoot them an email and wrap up this thing early.

In all seriousness, it is occurring to me that maybe you don't follow college football all that closely since you are a basketball guy.

What you have outlined in your post isn't really how it works, and Utah to the Sugar Bowl was an entirely different process under the BCS.

Nope. I don't pay attention to it. Just think it's weird how you guys rationalize things.

OSU being a much larger market probably is more relevant than how many Div 2 teams TCU played.

You guys hate on Cy for preaching that SEC conference gospel and then use that type of thinking to determine who you think is the better team? Big 10 > Big 12 therefore OSU > TCU? The worst team OSU played is better than the worst team TCU played so therefore OSU > TCU? Weird way to think imo. I simply think the committee selected OSU because they believe them to be a superior team.

Ohio State is the perfect example of why the Big 12 not having a title game cost them. Last week, Ohio State was not one of the final 4. Fast forward 1 week ahead in which OSU trounced a highly ranked conference opponent in their title game and they leap frog a Big 12 school that was playing Iowa State. If you're not seeing the dynamic that the conference title game introduces and how it obviously resonates with the committee, I can't help y'all.
