2015 Annual JazzFanz Current Players Draft

I liked what Ellis did early (though Giannis was a little bit of a reach) but man oh man, after the fourth round, that train came off the tracks and went barreling into sure hellfire.

Yeah. My mother in law was diagnosed with terminal cancer right before we left to go up to Montana for my sister's wedding and my focus was hijacked through the rest of the draft. Haven't had any cell coverage to be as aggressive as I wanted to and having Wiggins and Burks both picked one spot in front of me messed up my strategy. Was initially going to have Giannis spend most of his time at 4 and build a team that thrived in transition. I realize that Kanter was a bad pick for voting, but he is talented - if a little stupid. Definitely wanted a bigger starting PF so Jabari could be my 6th man, but wasn't able to aggressively pursue trades to move up for guys that I wanted.

Oh well. I'll just have to work with what I have. . . would have gotten in on the trade for Klay Thompson or DeMarre Carroll if I'd have had any internet yesterday.

I'm very sorry about your mother bro. Good luck with everything.

(Could this be some bs story to garner sympathy votes?)

No. I wish it was. She was diagnosed with terminal Lymphoma 17 years ago and given 2 months to live. She beat it back, only to be diagnosed with a second type of lymphoma and given 2-3 years to live. That was 7 years ago. We just found out that the first, more aggressive cancer is back. Getting ready for the third big fight for her life once her new treatments begin. We're hopeful, but realistic. It's going to be rough.

I'm sorry to hear. I know that lymphoma treatments have advanced a great deal in the last 2 decades, and I hope that is the case here.

They have. The 2nd treatment that she had was an experimental one at the time, where none of the participants had lived longer than 2-3 years - hence the timeframe they gave her. We're waiting to see what stage she's in. If it's not in her bone marrow, then she has better odds.

One thing I learned a long time ago. . . nobody effs with my mother in law. She's one tough lady!

She sounds like a fighter. Hope everything goes well for her.
