2016-17 Hype Train Playoff Chase!!!

Dal has a weird vendetta against Hill this season. I'm pretty sure he personifies George Hill as NAOS.

Maybe true. But don't forget the rash of "OMG Hill is my beautiful boyfriend" threads that he started at the beginning of the year. So, to recap, first he identified Hill as a "stop-gap option," then he became slack-jawed and enamored by Hill's All-Star pace, and now he's back on the hate wagon.

Watching the Spurs game yesterday when I suddenly had a peaceful feeling wash over me. I think weeks ago, Jazz management made the decision that they'll choose health over playoff seeding. Whether we're a 4, 5, or 6 seed, it won't matter much if if Hill and Favors aren't reasonably healthy. The rust factor scares me, but I still think we're better off trying it this way. If somehow they steal the 4 seed after resting those two, even better.

Only 1 game tonight:

Blazers @ Wolves (is triple OT to much to ask?)

But tomorrow:

Blazers @ Jazz
Bucks @ Thunder (the wont catch the Clippers)
Grizzlies @ Spurs (I want the Spurs to rest everyone their next game against the Jazz)

At this point the Jazz will most likely finish 4th or 5th. But I really want 4th and HCA in the 1st round.

As of today 4-7 looks like this:

4. Jazz 47-30
5. Clippers 47-31 - .5 games behind
6. Thunder 43-33 - 3.5 games behind
7. Grizzlies 42-35 - 5 games behind

Hate is relative. I like Hill. I think he had an unlucky year with injuries. I don't think that will necessarily happen next season. At the same time, the price tag being talked about is a bit more than I'd like to spend on him. Blergh.

Precisely. I was a big fan early on, we haven't seen PG-play like that since....2011?

The oft-injuries and the max request have turned me slightly against wanting him in the long-term. I now prefer Jrue in free agency.

Also, I said he was a stopgap while we evaluated the "long term potential of Dante"-- ie if Dante was killing it this season, George would be gone. Fairly easy to understand this.

Yup. I like watching him play, I think he fits the roster well. His injuries and price are blegh. Look at his season by season game logs though-- he is by no means a Karl Malone. And is losing this many games late in your career a potential for concern?

There are three 'fairly easy to understand' things:
1. Because of the positional flexibility of both Hill and Dante, the acquisition of Hill signaled NOTHING about the long-term commitment the jazz had for either player.
2. Hill doesn't have a significant injury history; most of what you see this year has either been freak or related to a turf toe injury that won't fully heal until the offseason allows the appropriate recovery schedule.
3. You've been whiffing on PG-related discussions for something like 5 years running.

lol

George Hill is a glass cannon who has never played in 82 games over the course of a season. And he's only getting older.

It's cute that u think I give a **** about what you think of my opinions.

Jrue won't be cheaper than Hill. He also won't ever come to Utah. Complete non starter.

evidence for either claim?
