NBA playoffs and Preakness have one thing in common; both offer two minutes of excitement.

Convo w/non-NBA fan who tells me super teams and utterly predictable Finals 1 reason why he stopped watching NBA. Parity a joke.

The NBA playoffs would get a 29% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Too many blowouts, and all of us lose And most of these blowouts, making me snooze

Yup. It's been a joke. Whatever that lead to this has gotta go. I'm honestly losing patience.

The NBA has got a golden goose, and it's something like this that could potentially kill it.

Tonight, Kevin Durrant said if fans don't like the blowouts, they should stop watching.

Kevin Durrant ought to hire a pr rep. He can't seem to stay out of his own way.

KD has been terrible the last few years with PR.

But in fairness to him, what's he supposed to say to that? Is he supposed to apologize? Didn't most of us see this coming? The warriors set a record for wins last year. Then they added KD. It's like the 96 bulls after beating down Seattle in the finals adding Malone or Shaq that summer.

I think that the nba will need to take steps to aid in the parity after this summer. Especially if the finals is a flop (which I wouldn't be surprised if the warriors clean out the cavs 4-1).

The nfl wouldn't be the juggernaut that it is if there wasn't parity. As it stands right now, literally at least half of the league has a shot at the super bowl.

Compare that to the nba. Didn't 100 percent of us essentially predict a cav/warriors final? Did anyone think that the rockets or Spurs would get the warriors? Did anyone think the raptors or Celtics would get the cavs?

Next year, the Dubs will have:

Curry-36.0M
Durant-36.0M--assuming he opts out and re-signs which makes sense (72.0M)
Klay-17.286M (89.286MM)
Draymond-16.4M (105.686M)
McCaw-1.313M (106.999M)
Looney-1.234M (108.233M)
Jones-1.224M (109.457M)

That's just for seven guys. Assuming they re-up some of their own guys (since they'd already be over the cap) and use the MLE, I gotta think they end up somewhere north of 140M. Maybe even 150M.

Klay would still have two years left and Draymond would have one left.

The NBA has never had parity. It's just kind of exaggerated right now. The playoffs would have been way better if some key injuries didnt happen.

?

Are you really not going to watch the Finals?

Probably not. I might catch a few minutes of a game of two. i just don't find a compelling story to draw my attention. I've seen the same story with the same cast the last two seasons.

I realize I am old and too inclined to nostalgia and stories of human triumph. Not even the beautiful ball played by gs nor lebrons unparalleled individual performance is enough to hold my attention.

Perhaps if the story changes dramatically...Lebron goes down when the Cavs are down 3-2 and the cavs force a game 7 or something.

Yeah, you must just not be a basketball fan.

How does the possible greatest player ever vs what might be the greatest team ever assembled not interest you?

Yeah, it'd be cool if their roads to the Finals were tougher, but this is the best Finals matchup possible.

I wanna watch a League where all 30 teams have equal chance to compete for the Finals not just watching 2 super teams going to the Final year in year out. I'm sick of it.

Trust me, you don't. I want more teams to be competitive, but having a top heavy league is probably best. If all teams were equally talent dispersed, Lebron would just mow through everyone. The nature of the NBA is just counter-intuitive to parity. One player can really control a game, so the best players are always going to dominate. Then some of the really good players who arent the best are going to team up so they can try to beat the best. It's just how it is.

I mean, just appreciate what is going on. It sucks as a hardcore Jazz fan, but I enjoy it as a NBA fan.
