2016-17 NBA PLAYOFFS THREAD

yeah but that 27% to 34% jump just translated to making .2 more 3's a game. Small sample size

My eyes hurt from trying to read the rest. Paragraphs please.

But bigger info is that the team went from him hurting them on the court to him helping them when on the court. That is a huge swing in impact. Regardless of what other stats might say he was not helping us the first half win and he was the second half. Also im not taking the time to format and edit what I type from my phone, sorry but not really.

Somebody should tell me why the Jazz didn't re-sign Korver in 2010. If I remember well the Jazz didn't want to pay him "just" 5 million believing he wasn't worth that money. He is still one of the best 3-point shooters in the league!

Because he was a massive **** to the Jazz. He cost a couple spots in seeding for being a selfish dickhead that put his own stats and 3 point record as priority over the team winning. That is not someone you re-sign. I am not sure why people liked him so much after the fact. That was one of the most selfish things I have seen a player do on the court, especially that he admitted to.

Selfish or not he was a good player with a cheap contract. Just look at his career after the Jazz.

Players have to get better if they want to play. The Jazz are past the point of handing out minutes just because you got picked in the lottery.

and on the flipside the Jazz need to find improvement / and or better surrounding players to take the next step ??? Surely part of that is taking the raw talent available and generating improvement, part of which is playing time ? Fair enough not this season and to expect a big improvement from Lyles and Exum through offseason work, but i would think next season or two there is a little leeway for that in playing time ?

I would have lost a lot of respect for the Jazz organization if they kept Korver. He is one of the reasons we broke up the Boozer/Dwill era team. He really hurt us that year at the end. We were sitting in the #2 or #3 seed spot that year and it would have made a huge difference had we stayed there. He stopped shooting the ball even when open to preserve his record and dropped us to the #5 seed, our offense got bogged down by his selfish play to keep his record. Players and coaches on that team would not have respected or wanted him back and I am sure the FO decision was based around that move. The Jazz didnt even try to re-sign him. We got swept by the Lakers that year. Had we ended up with the #3 or #2 seed that makes a huge difference. Honestly the #1 seed was within reach.

He will go down as one of my least Favorite Jazz players of all time.

anyone clearly playing for their own state is an automatic dealbreaker.

I stand by what I said. Jazz need a better starting lineup and to stay healthy. You can't startDiaw, Jingles, Mack or even Joe Jesus against the Warriors and expect to win.

In 4 games, Jazz were outscored in the first quarters 126 - 70. 56 points. An AVERGE of 14 point deficit to start the games. In the other 12 quarters combined, they were outscored by 4 points. . . and that was only after their abysmal showing in the 4th quarter of this game. Start better and they can hang with these guys. That's going to take some roster upgrades and good health. DL must keep Hayward in the fold. He's a legitimate star player. Rudy is too, but he hasn't been the same since he hurt his knee (despite some brilliant performances.) Not having a healthy Favors, Hill and Hood killed this team. Forced them to rely way too much on role players.

Go Spurs then Cavs. But I'm done watching.

Now looking at Jazz exit interviews and what DL does in the free agency, with our own free agents and trades. Time to push from great to elite.

I'm excited about our future, and proud of what we've accomplished. The hardest part is taking the next step.
We need to have a good draft, and figure out who isn't going to help us take the leap.

Kelly Olynyk trade anyone? Piss off Green. Someone to get under his skin.

As am I but there is the chance that this all falls apart so I have some nerves there as well.

Jazz have done the "easy part". But I hope DL has already been at work on parts of this. Like freeing up money by making decisions on the glut of PGs and trying to get out from under the Burks contract.

the jazz clippers series was awesome and I'm happy with how far this team got this season.

1 thing that sucks is that the finals have been pretty much set in stone with KD's absolutely weak *** move to the warriors. As a BBALL fan I really enjoyed the GSW thunder series last year.
