I don't know why Cy is so hell bent on not wanting a Hard Cap. The biggest beneficiaries of a Hard Cap are small market teams like Utah.

Yeah, you must just not be a basketball fan.

I was once, I was a huge NBA fan and NCAA. But like I said I've gotten old, and I'm looking for more than what the nba offers. The story lines are predictable and shallow, and league has always been a copy-cat league, so all the games all kind of look the same. I wish I was more into it.

The Jazz hold my interest, so I guess I am a Jazz fan.

Hard cap is stupid. I dont agree with putting a limit on how much people can make if people are able to pay them.

No, Utah would not benefit from a hard-cap. I think hard-caps are too restrictive and I don't like restrictions in labor. If a team is willing to pay to be better, then they should be able to willing they are willing to accept the tax that accompanies it. It makes no business sense for the NBA either. Other teams make more money when the big teams pay insane amounts of luxury tax.

The answer isn't a hard-cap. It's not max contracts and no draft.

How would Utah not benefit? If Super teams cannot fit 4 All Stars in 1 team, those guys have to consider moving to another team to get paid - that would open up other small market options like Utah.

Too restrictive. Makes no business sense for the NBA to do. It would require the NBA to make contracts non-guaranteed (NEVER HAPPENING) so teams could cut contracts. If they couldn't, any mistake in contract negotiations could ruin a franchise for years (way more so than it can now).

I think the NBA should be closer to free market, not restrictive. NBA should stop trying to make parity among 30 teams and cater towards parity towards the teams that are actually good and ran well (see my long post on taking the draft away). That could be done by taking draft and max contracts away.

I already explained the rare set of circumstances that allowed the GSW to happen. It isnt going to happen again, or at least highly unlikely. I dont think the league should punish GSW for running their team properly.

And look, the NBA has their LT set-up in a way that when Draymond and Klay come up on their next contracts, they will likely have to change teams. In the mean time they should be able to enjoy their dominance because they drafted well and outsmarted everyone at the perfect time.

And Utah is a team that has said they are willing to go into the LT. They are a team that benefits from no hard cap. Take your communist hard-cap elsewhere.

There already is a limit, its called the MAX contract.

Hard cap is the way to go, it means FO's have less room for error and will need to be more creative, also teams will be better constructed. Will aso stops players from demanding the MAX when they aren't worth it (looking at you Chandler Parsons).

Yes, max contracts should not exist and nearly everyone who is smart agrees on that.

I dont believe in limiting what a person can earn if their employer is willing to pay them. It's simple ethics for me.

We'll just have to wait and see. GSW are building a STADIUM, I'm pretty sure they can spend the little extra cash to keep the team together.



Also the hard cap idea isn't just my idea, I believe the League has been pushing for it for years - it's the Players Association that didn't want to go for it.

Worst ever. And if GSW are willing to pay Luxury Tax this could keep going for years to come.

Because those small market teams want to exist and they are in regions where they need teams I guess? Small market teams are fine. You know Cleveland is a small market team, right? There were X amount of teams at one point then the NBA said "Hey, I think we can add more teams and there are people who want to be owners of teams" so they added more teams.

I outlined a rule change that would make more parity. A hard cap isnt a good move. Less restrictions should be put on teams if anything.

1. Abolish Draft
2. Abolish max contracts
