Man, I feel so bad for Pelicans fans. Dell Demps should rename himself Dell Dump. He signed Solomon Hill to 4/$48 and he got replaced as the starting SF by Dante Cunningham.
DeRozan is definitely the early MVP of this season that isnt getting talked about as much. He scored over 30 points in 8/9 games, has had 2 40 point games and the one game he did not get 30 he scored 20 and they lost. He is averaging 34 points on .533 shooting and their team is 7-2 so far. He had that one rough game and the only other loss is to the Cavs from a game winner from Kyrie. He is putting up as many shots a game (24) as Westbrook but scoring more efficiently. I am not sure it is sustainable with the amount of shots and minutes.
I hope Davis is just as focused.Cousins is focused on getting out of SAC.
The cool thing about DeRozan is that his shots outside the restricted area are basically all 90s/00s shot selection. So what he does goes against the defensive instincts that players learn in practice where the emphasis is on pressuring good shooters outside and keeping guys out of the paint. That way he getts looks that are cleaner and he's somehow efficient from that area. Kinda like Wade always managed to defeat the analytics even after computer simulation found its way into the league.
Westbrook with 41 points, 16 assists, 12 rebounds... and still loses to Orlando.

DeRozan's been phenomenal but Harden is the MVP right now tho.. He's putting up prime Tiny Archibald/Oscar Robertson type stats 30ppg and 13, apg, 8 rpg..
He is putting up amazing numbers I would have him at a close second but I understand there is an argument for #1. For me DeRozan is hitting his shots at a better percentage and they are getting to the line the same amount. Harden is getting more assists and rebounds but not scoring as much and DeRozan has a better PER. Harden is also turning the ball over at a much higher rate which offsets some of those assists numbers for me. His team is also winning at a better rate right now which is the other reason I put him in the lead. DeRozan also plays defense 50% of the game, although Harden is putting in a little more effort it is still not pretty. Either way both are playing at an extremely high level and we will see which one can keep it going longer.
