Mormons weren't slave holders

Not true. Time to study history.

From the trek in 1847 to the territorial abolition in 1862, there were slaves in Utah.

About 2% of Oregon's population is black, not much more than Utah. Colorado, Washington and Arizona's black population as a percentage is a fraction of the national rate (3-4% vs. around 12% nationwide).

The story could have been far different, though. Thousands of Nigerians converted to Mormonism in the '60s and were begging the Church to send missionaries to baptize them. They had gotten copies of the Book of Mormon, and were converted without being proselyted to. In Nigeria.

The Church's hierarchy argued for years on what to do. David O. McKay even floated the idea of giving the Nigerians the Aaronic Priesthood so that they could preside over their own congregations and meetings. Harold B. Lee and Joseph Fielding Smith shouted it down because they didn't want to give any priesthood to black people. This was about a decade before the Priesthood ban was lifted (1978). They could have spent the money to bring these converts to Utah, as Zion is indicated in scripture to be a "gathering place of the Saints". Instead, the Biafran War in 1967 gave them an excuse to put the entire matter off until the late '70s.

Utah was a slave state and not only a slave state, but mormons were brutal to the slaves. Brigham Young ordered extermination orders of local native Americans and they captured and sold the natives into slavery.

Mormon doctrine was that black people were black because they sinned in the premortal life and that blacks would be slaves in heaven. It was god’s form of mercy toward the less valiant in the pre-existence.

Sigh. . .Yep, Utah was a hotbed of slavery and pretty much killed all of the black people they had hidden in their fields to hide their vast participation in the slave trade. That is why there are no black people in Utah.

Haha. Way to deflect. Yes, Utah was a slave state. Yes, Brigham Young taught it was because god commanded it. Yes, Brigham Young ordered extermination of groups of Native Americans and sold them into slavery.

Now, none of that has anything to do with why there aren’t blacks in Utah.

But that doesn’t make it any less true.

Actually, I think black people fled to the North, into Idaho, Wyoming and even Canada to escape Utah oppression. The term "hoser" was the shortened form of "Hosanna'er" used derisively for Mormons who used to sing while mistreating their slaves.

I seem to remember the Mormon church actually encouraging their members to foster native american children into their homes, not as child labor, but as a means to give them access to better education and an escape from the rampant crime and alcoholism that was plaguing those people in the 50's through early 70's. Of course, now they all have casino profits to share.

Ready for my new Niko trade... Favs and a second for Niko and Moore (maybe we move one of Exum and Ricky... maybe both for Conley).

Not sure if Moore's money is considered good money, but they get some savings... we get a decent combo guard.

that would do wonders for our spacing
plus he's gonna want $$$$$

Favors does no spacing and our offense does okay. The difference is that Julius puts the ball on the floor and aggressively attacks the basket. He can do so much more with the ball in his hands which makes our "catch the pass while on the run" offense that much more dangerous. Julius could get the ball already turning the corner towards the basket.

As for paying him, so be it. If he is an upgrade over Favors, which he would be, let's pay the man.
