2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

Lmao. Conley is getting a first back. Its not a question.

Not if they are getting straight expirings imo. SA has the best potential package and makes the most sense to me but Pau has like 6.5M in dead money on his deal for next year. I think they’d throw a pick and mostly expiring salary... not sure they’d throw white/Murray/walker into the deal though.

Look, stop gaps and incremental improvements won't cut it. Organic growth won't cut it. Adding 3rd tier players that are 80% of the 2nd tier player we really "want" won't cut it. Another year standing pat, hoping for "development" or "organic growth" won't cut it. With multi-all-star teams dominating the league, and us with 2 borderline all-stars, we need a proven top tier player if we're serious about competing. But we've been "that guy" away from competing for years, and DL likes to play it conservatively. They seem to be happy with mediocrity and fielding a team that's fun to watch to keep butts in the seats, while never really having a shot at the chip. They need to take a big swing or we'll waste Rudy's prime years. They need to make a big move, even if it fails, because no risk no reward. Otherwise we might as well accept our perennial position as a fun team that sometimes makes the 2nd round of the playoffs and yet again had a generational talent that has the asterisk of "... Who never won a ring".

****ing get it done Jazz. This is not a pizza shop where working on a thin margin is the primary concern. This is a ****ing billionaires hobby with a customer base that wants a better product.

Seems like this is the philosophy Detroit and Minnesota used last year. Not saying it's wrong; the reward could be high if things go well. But I think I'd still rather be in our shoes than theirs. You'd better get it right if you "go for it." And unless the Jazz brass are a lot clearer on the target than we collectively are, I'd say there's a good chance of getting it wrong.

Any bench lineup that involved Niang has allowed our opponents to either close the gap or even make a comeback and take the lead in multiple occasions over the course of last few games. Our starters were good enough to bail them out, yes. But if this trend continues, it will inevitably start costing us some games.
Niang is difficult to watch.

Just realized Patty Mills has 2 more years and 25M on his deal. I thought he was expiring (think the trade machine lied to me). So SA has an offer but 6.5M in dead money with Pau and some bad money with Mills.

Minny is another suitor, but theyd be eating Teague's contract.

I'll bet the offers really suck... may have been why they came out and just said the guys are for sale.

The Detroit Jackson/Kennard/Salary filler and a 1st may be the best they find. Memphis gonna sell low imo.

If we send Ricky and Favs there is a third team out there that could send a first with a worse contract for one of those guys. They could also rent the space this offseason if a team needed it, but I think there won't be a huge market for that.

Give me your thoughts on this trade:
Korver & Jazz 2019 1st for Brogdon & Snell

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ydx795he

Why Bucks: 1) $$$! They can't pay Brogdon, Bledsoe & Middleton and if they don't make a trade they will lose at least one of them this summer for nothing. Similarly, getting off of Snell's contract would help them. Korver will help with the spacing (obviously), and the 1st could either be flipped for a player, or used to acquire a cheap contract (which will be important going forward).
2) Even though this trade decreases their chances at a title this year (but not by much), it would make them better the next few years, which is when their championship window really starts anyways.

Why Jazz: 1) Roster fit. Brogdon is a high IQ player who can shoot, penetrate, and pass. Also, he is a strong defender. I also like that he would be great as either the second guard with Mitchell (playing on or off ball), or as the first guard off the bench.
2) Off season flexibility. Brogdon will be a restricted free agent this summer with a cap hold of only $1,931,189. So, Jazz could generate over $30 million in cap space to sign a top player. However, if the Jazz strike out in free agency, they can still bring Favors back and resign Rubio with his bird rights. They could then look to use Favor's expiring contract to upgrade at the deadline.
This trade is the only realistic way I can think of for the Jazz to add two high end free agents to the roster this summer.

Here is an interesting article talking about how Cousins wanted to go to Washington. https://www.washingtonpost.com/spor...-chance/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.0ffba9530e6b

If Washington wanted to try to go after Cousins again this summer, it would make a ton of sense for them to trade Porter for Favors, Thabo and a 1st. They could use the 1st to try to dump Mahinmi's expiring this summer.

If I'm a Wiz fan, I dream for a Wall/Beal/Cousins team rather than stick with what I have.

Milwaukee has plenty of money to keep most of their guys. May let Bledsoe walk before they do Brogdon. They can't do anything right now that is consider a step back in talent imo. They gotta keep Giannis. If they need to pay the tax for a year I think they'd do it.

Brogdon isn't available because there are zero reasons for the Bucks to trade him. He is cheap right now, plays right now and they have his restricted free agent rights.

I'm not sure they can pull it off capwise. Ariza, Satoransky, Morris capholds all need to be waived... so their team would be Wall/Boogie/Beal/Brown Jr./Howard... and a bunch of minimum dudes.

I will say this...Boogie seems like a Wizard.

I agree they need to keep Giannis happy going forward, that is why I think they would consider this. They already have 80M in salary before signing these three. I really doubt they are going to be willing, or even able, to sign Middleton to a max + Bledseo & Brogdon to $20M each. So, would you rather have Middleton + Bledsoe + Korver + Jazz 1st or just two of Bledsoe, Middleton & Brogdon? I think it is a no brainier.
