2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

Me too. If he's healthy he's worth it. I would prefer a bigger wing or amazing stretch 4, but we are kinda limited. If we hate this draft then we are likely to move the pick at some point. We can address the need at 4 easier than a hole at the guard/wing playmaker. It helps DM and Rudy compete now... even if that is not something that has a likelihood of success at the highest levels.

Maybe Conley is our Iggy... not the final piece, but gets us closer and another move works.

I'm all for trades, but my biggest question about trading Rubio for Conley is chemistry. I think Conley is going to have to be so good for the players and fans to get over the pain of losing fan favorite Ricky. If we crash out in the 2nd round again, that contract is going to look so bad this summer.

It is pretty amazing that NY was able to get DSJ, 2 first round picks AND dump almost $40 million in contracts this summer all for a guy who hated NY.

I'm not a fan of the Conley deal. Not sure he's really that much of a game changer for us. Especially with his injury history. And the comparison to Iggy is probably apt, but Conley is paid Max money to be a solid role player. Not a good deal imo. If they get it done I hope it pans out.

Got it. I'll bet you're right. I wonder if a Lowry for Conley swap is better than what Utah or Detroit have offered.
It only makes sense for Memphis if they can trade Lowry for something better than they could Conley, which doesnt seem likely.

I don't care if Ball is guaranteed to be the next magic Johnson, I never want him and his ****-show on the jazz.

Nah, the WC is much tougher. We aint making it to the 2nd round with the current roster.

Sounds like we'd have Exum and Favs still... wonder if Washington would swap Exum and Favs for OP? Exum's trade value or lack thereof is tough to peg. Maybe we add a 2021 protected pick?

Doesn't sound like the plan has changed for them, maybe they fail this year and do all the re-tooling in the summer.
If we flip Favors and Exum for Porter who is playing backup C? Because in order to have those guys left Bradley and Udoh are going to Memphis. So you'd have a big hole at backup C, the tallest player on the roster besides Gobert would be Jae Crowder.

DL, run away from Conley! He is to much risk, for to much money. Wait until the summer if you must and use the money to chase players who either have more upside, or will be cheaper (e.g., Winslow, Brogdon, Bledsoe, Kemba, D'Angelo Russell, Rozier, Dragic, Rubio, Beverly, etc.).
At the very least, don't make a trade until AD gets moved because he might free up a young guard who fits with Mitchell and is not a top highest 10 paid player (I see you Brogdon, Ball, & Heart).

Half of those guys are garbage.

If we can get Conley who might be the the best pg of that bunch, without losing Favors or Exum (I’m not confident that’s the deal—someone ask Tony Jones if either are involved with Rubio in the offer), we have to do that.

Conley-Exum
Mitchell-Korver
Ingles-O’Neale
Favors-Crowder
Gobert

We’d lose no one in our normal rotation other than Don Rick. And that wouldn’t be a loss. It’d be an upgrade.

The entertainment value would be worth it. Lavar's head would explode. But any trade would be voided after Lonzo refuses to report.
The refuse to report part would be true.
