I guess the question for smarter people than I, is 50 some games of an elite defender/potentially good player better than 70 some games from a generally solid/consistent role player?

Missing 20-30 games year after year is a lot of adjustment and if that causes you a few extra regular season losses, that’s the difference between home court and missing the playoffs out west.

There are 82 game players and there are 16 game players.

Exum is one of those guys who has a rare combination of skills that can help you in the playoffs. He guards Harden as well as anybody.

Man, I just realized exum is now in his 4th straight season of missing at least 1/5th of his games. Why are we so averse yo trading this guy again?

Because it’s his 5th consecutive rookie season.

But yeah he’s basically guard version of Derrick Favors imo (physical skills >>>> his technical skills)

Jrue
Randle
Kuzma
Winslow
Beal

I know some of these are a huge reach, but I'm holding out hope that luxury tax, rebuilding, fit, or long term finances leads their team to making them available at the last minute.

I've long said Exum has blackmail material on Lindsey. Glad to see others come around to my line of thinking.

I think you are right Exum is a 16 game player... he plays about 16 games per year.

If we really want Conley (I’m not 100% sold) then letting Exum get in the way of that is stupid dumb. Conley is better than Exum ever will be...

I get why we want to keep him but we need to have more self awareness. There is like a 20% chance Exum becomes a good starting... and maybe a 5% chance he is something more than that... he is likely a good 3rd guard when healthy but also has bust potential because of injury.

We all know you want Exum to play PG while simultaneously playing SG and PF, but us other idiots haven't mastered cloning yet.
