He had a three year span where he averaged a little over 2 attempts a game. Bird only averaged 1.9 per game over his career. Just a different time period.

Sure, and he had 13 years where he averaged 0.5 a game. Too small a sample size. And that is why when people try and argue Bird was an all time great shooter I vehemently disagree.

Doing this exercise the biggest thing that stood out was how little the three was used... the best of the best were shooting 4ish a game in the 90s. I can’t back this up with any stats but I’m pretty sure Detlef never missed against the Jazz ever.

One of the best pure shooters in NBA history and was better than people remember. He had a 4 year period where he averaged at least 23+ points a game topping out at 27 a game. From 1983 to 1999 he shot 40% from three all those year’s combined.
