2021 NBA Draft Preview (new thread)

I feel the Jazz should trade down, into the 2nd rd to acquire more picks. There's still a lot of good players to be had after the 1st rd. Maybe trade the 30th pick to teams like OKC, New Orleans or Detroit. They all have 2 2nd rounders from 31st to 42nd.

There should be a starting-caliber wing or guard prospect at #30. I can't believe the Jazz gave up a mid-40s 2RP in this draft for Matt Thomas though. The Jazz are so casual with their 2RPs. Hopefully, they can buy back into that range. Adding a Herb Jones, Filip Petrusev or David Johnson in the mid-2nd would be solid.

If we stand pat, and he’s there, or if he’s still on the board around 27 and it doesn’t take much to move up, I want Primo. Love the kid.

*Super young. Is 18 y/o til December. Tons of room for growth.
*Has very good length with a 6’9.25” wingspan. Hayward’s was 6’8” fwiw.
*Hit the 3 at a good rate for a frosh. Some deep ones too. Smooth stroke though he doesn’t seem totally squared
*Nice handle. Looks very comfortable.
*Shows some ability to drive to the rim and finish well
*Athletic.
*Has played very well at the combine
*Love his body for its defensive potential

*My concerns would be tunnel vision—not many assists. And his rebounding numbers aren’t great. That said, I’m not sure what the coaches asked him to do.

I was just going to say that. He looks like a 6'10" Joe Ingles with a fraction of the charisma. Why look for a 3rd string point when you can give this guy the ball by mid-season without sacrificing flexibility.

He can hit just about any pass on the floor coming out of that high screen/roll. For a team like the Jazz that likes a big wing who can initiate actions, he seems like a pretty obvious fit. Plus he can hit Rudy with a high pass anytime he wants.

My husband plays hoops with some of the guys in Front Office and they told him if Ayo Dosunmu is still there Jazz will select him. He a Chicago guy and Wade a Chicago guy and they are basically letting Wade run the show and have a say on players who should be drafted and picked up. Not sure if it's wise. Does any other team have a minority (percentage, not race) owner who is so involved with the outcome? I've heard Jazz could spiral out of control because to many people making choices instead of one guy making the final choice

I like Roko, Kevin Murphy and JT Thor over Kuzma as a starting point. None of those require us giving up a player and helping the effing Lakers.
Those players could help the jazz in the next couple years like Kuzma can . unreal how every year we see young guys struggle later into season and veterans seem to perform better.. even Suns with their young guys like Cameron Johnson And Mikal those guys played 3 and 5 years of college hoops. If you think those players you listed would be more valuable to the Jazz next year you are crazy
