The Knicks are being patient and calculated. They know a future pick is a better asset than #19 right now. If you don't have a player you love, trade it for a future pick. It's good business.

Talent level usually plataeus after 18-19. The guy they get in the future will have his flaws and strengths like the guys in this draft. They can keep the value of the pick for future trades but they can draft and build around their current core and add talent to their current timeline right now. The Knicks weren't great with Free Agents and trades, they need to add talent first.

Houston already has two top-20 picks in the draft. Wonder if they'd move one of their remaining two picks.

Don't sleep on the Knicks. They are quietly going to build something.

They will attract a good free agent at some point and eventually trade 1sts for another star.

One thing I can say about Garuba is he's probably the best defender in the draft. Got a long way to go on offense though but his defense will allow him to stick on any roster.

Do not get too excited yet. There are still nine picks to go. I wish the Jazz could move up to just grab the guy they want but that is hard with no draft picks to give.
