Both are reportedly healthy now.
Simmons would also have the benefit of being like the 4th/5th option though so he'd just have to be a super role player as opposed to the #2 guy on the #1 seed like he was with the 76ers. A lot of people are down on him and I get it, I just think he was somewhat miscast in Philly as the #2 guy when he's more of a Draymond Green type of player.Yeah but Ben Simmons would rather play Call of duty than in a playoff game

So they were healthy to play in the playoffs? How did that turn out? That's not helping your argument. There has been literally nothing to indicate that either guy will miss any time next season. Simmons and Zion were both reportedly healthy enough to play in the playoffs last year.
There wasn't really any reason for the Pelicans to rush Zion back into action because they have so much invested into him. Ben not playing is definitely a lot more concerning considering the Nets had championship aspirations this year but when you're getting a 25 year old All-NBA/DPOY level player that was the 2nd best player on the #1 seed the year prior at #65 it's a risk worth taking, imo.So they were healthy to play in the playoffs? They could be healthy and get back to what they were before missing a ton of time. But it's risky and it will hurt your voting this year. But winning next year is more fun because that's more important than guessing. Just pointing out it's risky.
I don't mind the risk. There wasn't really any reason for the Pelicans to rush Zion back into action because they have so much invested into him. I got two top tier All-NBA level players that were former #1 picks and generational athletes at a discounted price due to the fact that they both missed the entire season. I'd prefer to shoot for elite talent with risk then average talent with no risk.
The thing with Zion though is that he really hasn't had any serious injuries, he just hasn't played a ton because he has been out of shape and the Pelicans have been overly precautious with him because they really haven't been anywhere near contention since they drafted him.I don't mind the risk.
Zion has yet to prove he can stay healthy in the NBA though. That's the biggest concern. The talent is there. Maybe if they reduced his role and minutes, he takes his body more serious, and has good luck it could happen for the first time this year. So far he wishes he could have Exums health.
I don't trust someone like that to get in shape just because his contract says. It's not a great track record for him or guys like him.The thing with Zion though is that he really hasn't had any serious injuries, he just hasn't played a ton because he has been out of shape and the Pelicans have been overly precautious with him because they really haven't been anywhere near contention since they drafted him.
I think that his new contract (weight/body fat % clause) will motivate him to be in shape as will the fact that the Pelicans actually look like they're ready to make some noise with McCollum/Ingram/Zion.
Both are healthy, and unless there’s reports they are missing the entire season you vote according to the report.I wouldn't bet on either playing a full season. But it's a possibility, that's why it's risky. Simmons is possibly healthy from his back issue but that was true in the playoffs. He won't ever be clear of whatever mental health issue he has. Zion hasn't proven the ability to stay healthy in the NBA yet, but it's a possibility this is the year. Both missed an entire season last year.
