2022 NBA Draft Thread: We Going to Have a Pick! (lmao jk)

Looks like Atlanta Paul Millsap to me. Like a dead-ringer.

****en gimme.

He's not as explosive as Millsap, and that showed in his finishing and rebounding. I see him as a Grant Williams-type who can do a bit more when he puts the ball down. He's a guy who will look better in an NBA concept than in college, but I think his role is mostly 3D with the ability to guard 3 - 5, make open spot-up 3s, and make some drive-and-kick plays. Maybe like Eric Paschall with more ability to score in the mid-range.

I don’t know how you see a dude that’s mostly played center as a SF but alright.

I might change my mind later, but he’s the dude I might stake my irrational homer flag for. And we can both be right and I’m not an expert but I’m also sticking with the Millsap comp.

Early Paul was explosive... Atlanta Paul not as much. I think he somewhere on the Paul Millsap - Grant Williams - DeJuan Blair spectrum.

I like him in the 20s... there aren't a lot of dudes I like in the 20s.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen such a deep draft for wings/forwards from the perspective of prospective rotation players (not necessarily stars). You know, the body type/skill set a team can’t have too much of?

Would be a great draft to have multiple picks.

Once you get past 20ish I think its pretty rough. I do think the middle of the draft is strong with players that fit the mold. I also really like Mark Williams... I know a true center, but he's athletic, long, he protects the rim, his motor runs hot, not like Bam but he can likely step out and survive... but he also has good touch around the rim and is a good free throw shooter... their may be a jumper in there... think he could be budget DeAndre Ayton.

There are a lot of guards and wings in this draft, but many of them have real holes or question marks:
-- Jeremy Sochan is a versatile and disruptive defender, but his scoring is a question.
-- Nikola Jovic could be the Serbian version of Gordon Hayward, but he lacks the ability to get separation and struggles finishing at the rim.
-- Jaden Hardy is supposed to a natural scorer, but he struggled shooting the ball from 3pt in the G-league.
-- Patrick Baldwin was a top-5 recruit, but he had just an awful freshman year.
-- Bryce McGowans has an NBA body, but was just terribly inefficient last year. Maybe he's a project like BJ Boston.

Top half of the 1st round is strong, but I think a bunch of the late-1st and 2nd-rd prospects are going to pull out of the draft.

TJ threw out in his podcast a "hypothetical" with the Hornets where we get 13, 15, Hayward, Washington and maybe another pick in the future. Seemed like a lot but coming away with 2 of Daniels, Sochan, Williams, Eason, Branham, Griffin would be dope.

Jaden Hardy is a 6'4" scoring combo-guard in the mold of a Jordan Clarkson or D'Angelo Russell. He didn't shoot well from distance in the G-league, but given how young he is and his FT shooting it's fair to believe his shooting will come around. He isn't super explosive, but he's skilled and able to create for himself in isolation. He'd be a decent pick in the 20s, much like Cam Thomas last year.

If Jalen Duren were on the board at #13, I might be willing to do that. I believe in Duren. Otherwise, #13 feels a bit low in this draft. Griffin and Eason should be gone by #13. I would be tempted by Ousmane Dieng in that range.
