2022 NBA Draft Thread: We Going to Have a Pick! (lmao jk)

Knicks have a 7% chance of cracking the top four tonight. Not great, but getting there might make the DM odds edge up a bit (though I think he’s staying).

I still maintain that the Pelicans could be a popular destination as I think they’re ready to start cashing in some chips ASAP for help ASAP.

If you want the Knicks to trade for Donovan, then you want the Knicks to end up at #3 or #4. If they get #1 or #2, they'll just keep the pick and draft with it. TBH, they might do that with #3 too. Jaden Ivey or Shaedon Sharpe would become the centerpiece of the Knicks' trade package. That said, any team that ends up at #4 might turn around and offer it to the Jazz for Donovan.

Teams we don't want moving up: Sacramento, Portland, San Antonio and Washington. Also, Charlotte. Reason is, then they'll be more willing to trade the pick in a three-team scenario involving Gobert.
If they get #1 they could use it as bait to get a bunch from OKC to trade to us.. say they hit #1 and OKC is at #4... they might snake Dort, #4, #12 if OKC has someone they prefer. They then re-route #4, #12, Quickly, Toppin and the Dallas pick our way... might be able to snake another pick and some swaps as well. The haul listed is kinda the least I'd take... Ainge will want more. Then they can build around Donovan, Dort, Barrett, without burning up all their future drafts.

I don't think Donovan is a candidate there, but I also agree with you. I think CJ is the guy for them... but they might have interest in our other stuff.

Maybe, but if I'm the Knicks and I get #1, I'm no longer thinking about emptying the cupboard for Donovan. I'm drafting at #1 or I'm trading down to #3 and keeping that guy and some extra. Jaden Ivey and Shaedon Sharpe are good enough to make a team think about trading down from #1 to #3.

I don't think Donovan is good enough to trade the #1 pick for. I think he comes into play at #4 or #5.

Maybe they get Jabari or Holmgren then decide to empty the future drafts for Donovan... 2023, 2025, 2027, 2029 and the Dallas pick they own.... Doubt we'd go for it but if they were all unprotected.

Spurs apparently have some interest in Deandre Ayton. I wonder if they also have interest in Gobert.
Ayton fits their timeline... and Spurs match Sarver's desire to save money. If it happens it will be like Poetl, Johnson, picks, and a ton of cap savings... Phoenix probably sneaks Craig, Saric in there.

Jazz need to trade Gobert to a team that needs to improve their defense and win right ****ing now....enough so that they're willing to take his salary. That could be Portland, Chicago, Golden State (if they lose to Dallas), or Charlotte if they get impatient. Charlotte is used to overpaying guys in free agency or taking bad contracts just to get decent players on their roster. I think they may have just finished paying Nic Batum or something.

Washington could factor in too, but they may need someone to take Porzingis.

Brooklyn is in a hurry to make something of KD's final few seasons.

I like the Spurs' picks at #9, #20 and #25 in this draft. That could be Dyson/Eason at #9, Hardy/Jovic at #20 and a big wing or Liddell at #25.
