2023 annual Jazzfanz all time NBA draft

Tatum is probably my biggest eyebrow raised so far. What do people think of that pick?
Why is that an eyebrow raiser?

Y'all are doing single season drafting so it's goign to place even more emphasis on stats (which is dumb for these things IMO, players are ultimately going to get judged on what people think of them in totality so trying to make it single season is an exercise in futility) and he averaged 30-9-5 on efficiency. That rivals a lot of the season by top forward scorers.

He's a good player. I think there are better players still available, but he's no worse than some of the players that were already picked.
Yea he wouldn’t sniff this range in a best players draft. But a wing with great size, really good shooter, good defender, etc. that’s gonna be additive on any team he’s on. So I get it

You’re right but I also don’t weigh those 2023 counting stats even close to someone doing it in the 80’s through the aughts.

IN reality almost everyone from the modern era is better than most players of comparable skill level in the 80s because those most modern players have a wider skillset.

I agree with you. The level of play is just so much higher across the board. But I think big names from the past would probably get more votes than superior modern players with less than stellar reputation. For example, there's a couple of MVP level players from the 2010s still unpicked, even though they're far more skilled than some of the players from the pre-80s that were picked.

Agreed which is why there’s a lot of nuance in how you rank this thing. If I have a pre 80’s guard who played without a three point line completely and would look awful on a court today. But was the best shooter/player of his era. How do we do that calculus? Part of the fun I guess.

I’ll give you guys the choice. Legends draft. (Only retired players) no era rule just draft any retired player you want.

Or we can do a current players only draft and if you aren’t burned out by then an all time jazz draft.

Current players next then we could do legends because I think a lot of legends go undrafted here and it would be fun to give them some shine.
