Its more ready... but also a role that is easier to step into and ramp up... like Ochai is doing. I think Amen will need to be a pg to be special... will require reps... those reps could have a much deeper negative impact on the team. Part of Exum's issue was he was so far away early in his career... the injuries were obviously catastrophic.

I think the argument is that neither of the Thompsons are reliable shooters at this stage, and in light of that you'd take the player who has shown more ability to break the paint and playmake. If Amen's shooting never comes around you probably still have a player like John Wall.
