2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I still think a boring yet prudent thing to do would be to move back to 12 if they will give our 2024 pick back. I'd try and move up first and if Walker fell to 9 I think we could actually get more than that... but maybe ensures they get their guy.
Man... that is a tough thing to think through. 12 is obviously just outside the consensus top-11 so that's rough, but getting the pick back would be HUGE.

If Hendricks/Whitmore/Ausar aren't there at #9 then I'd think about it. If I believe Wallace/Black/Grady are at #12 I probably do it.

The counter point on Lauri is he just looked like prime Dirk minus passing but plus defense... and I could see him staying here for like 8 years as an AS. Even if he is more spendy and prevents us from getting high picks.

I don't think I would do it. We have enough in the cupboard to get #3 with picks if we really love Scoot.

Absolutely not. Lauri for scoot is laughable. Please dont suggest this anymore its offensive to lauri and true jazz fanz everywhere

I didn’t say absolutely do it. It’s worth a discussion. Please bring actual substance to the conversation instead of stupid claims.

Plus I guarantee you Portland fans are saying the same thing but opposite of what we think. They think we’d have to add with Lauri.

Portland likely doesn’t want more picks though. If they did they’d just trade Dame and keep Scoot.

At 12 I think Wallace, Miller, could be there. I could also see us liking Bufkin or George's upside as much as Black/Wallace and getting the pick back for moving. I don't think there is a consensus top 11. I think we could get our guy and eat our cake too.

I agree with this. I think the Jazz want to field competitive teams and grow with other teams' picks and through trades. Lauri was 27/10 after the AS break and flirted with 50/40/90 all year.

Say they can spin out #9 and a future pick for OG in a separate deal and then have two more picks to play with. I just don't see a good matching trade where its Scoot for Player X. It would be to break a $100 into a couple $50s

Lauri’s FG% and 3PT% dipped very badly after we traded Conley. I think Lauri thrives the best with a creating playmaker at PG.

And I know this is the dumbest **** ever... but the fact that Lauri and Walker genuinely seem to like each other a lot is a solid reason to keep the pairing together. You will accomplish more with guys that like each other and after our last two stars low key hated each other... I'm ready for some of the good vibes to continue.
