2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I also think Detroit should just trade down. Sounds like at least one of the guys they’re considering at 5 will be available at 9.

Would you trade 9 + 16 + a future first for 5 to get Whitmore?

That’s tough. Probably not… but maybe if the future 1st is like the worst of the 2025 picks or something.

I would prefer to do that as well of course just wondering where the limit is for people here. For the record I would do the deal I outlined just because I think we should go get our guy assuming he is our guy.
Interesting, my point was that I would be willing to give up a better asset to move up. I assume that the future first would be more valuable than 16 because it has a higher potential upside, but maybe that’s not how teams would consider it

Bilal has shown he can be a high level role player as an 18 year old.

Whitmore was a 1 dimensional athlete on a bad team. I think he much more raw than Bilal.

Whitmore has more potential due to the scoring upside being massive, but Bilal has the higher floor because of the 3&D attributes

My only concern with Whitmore is he might be a crazy chucker. Like just a total, absolute gunner that is kind of a dick or something.

That is an extreme outcome, but then I’m not sure why he went to Villanova and not OTE/G-League/some junk team overseas. That is the only thing I would be concerned with. He easily has the strongest collective indicators outside the top-3 and the most-likely of that group to be the 2nd best player in this draft.

Like, if he pops he is a wrecking ball. Even with his existing weaknesses.
