2024-2025 Tank Race

I'm glad all my "the Jazz tank is going to be fine" arguments came true. Turns out young players suck at winning and veteran depth wins you games. We had perfect examples of this the last two Jazz season btw.

I still want like 15 more games of playing like *** before I feel comfortable. Games 20-40 the schedule gets a little less tank friendly. The final 20 games teams will be panic tanking. Get out to a big lead in the tank race. My sources tell me Lauri's back is sooooooo spasm'd. Rest and rest are the only cures.

We might not be the very bottom (though it's looking promising)....but I think we can rule out this 8-12 finish that I was arguing with people all summer about. Some of these teams tanking teams will trade the players that are helping them win, but it can't be all of them.

I was eyeballing 5th -6th... but after this start I'm now greedy. Being bottom 4 may require a bit of management.

Bottom 4 is about right for my hopes. The difference between 1 - 4 as far as lottery odds isn't huge. The main difference between 1 and 4 is if someone jumps us then we are left dropping to 5 - 7 vs 3 - 5. In the last draft that pushed some bottom 4 teams to 6th which would be the suck.

Need to do whatever we can to ensure we're in the bottom 3

TOR is about to have another tank loss where they are leading the whole game and blow it at the end. They are so good at this tanking thing. It’s annoying.

The only thing that concerns me about the tank is our vets.
With Sexton / Clarkson / Lauri / Collins we have 4 dudes that can get hot and go for 30 any night

Agreed. We have a 1-6 record after seven games, but there are still 75 games left. In the 2025 draft, the odds of landing a player who turns into a star are much higher than they usually are for a tanking team. That’s why this draft is super important to us. I want us to be one of the three worst teams after 82 games. Lauri with the kids would get us there, but with Sexton, Clarkson, and Collins around, that might not happen. And since I don’t see those players as part of our future, it would stink if, because of them, we missed out on a stud and had to watch the top prospects go to other teams on draft night.

And there are those that are like "I don't want to lose by 30 every night" and "We can win some games to help moral its okay". I say no. We can't be in the mud and choose how we eat dirt. We just need to accept and seek the losses however we can. Run up a lead while other tankers are still trying to move off of vets. Its go time.

What TOR is doing is ideal. They aren't getting absolutely blasted when they lose and it's very clear that their young guys are developing and getting ample opportunity. The extra 1-2% or whatever won't make up for our players looking complete dog **** and having poor development.

How the hell is Milwaukee all the sudden so bad… Giannis is still there no? Seems like a sneaky tank job to me. Idk

I mean that's great... all I'm saying is I see some online being like "I'm all in on losing... and just make it happen under these conditions and bingo bango!" It just doesn't work that way. Some of those Toronto games flip to wins if IQ and Barnes are playing. All I'm saying is once you go to the slimy side you don't get your choice of slimy all the time. If its ugly most of the time then so be it.
