That's good. So the jazz will know if they got a top 3 guy on the roster or not when free agency hits.

My guess is if they still have sexton, Lauri, and Collins and they got a top 3 pick in the draft then we will see them try to add win now pieces in free agency.

If they get a less than top 3 pick (either getting screwed in the lottery or winning too much the rest of this season) then they will try to trade their good vets and won't add win now talent and tank again next year.

Even if you finish with the worst record in the NBA, you have a 60% chance of not getting a top 3 pick.

This has no bearing on the post you quoted though.
The lottery is complete (as is the draft) prior to free agency. My post was pointing out that its a good thing that the draft stuff will be wrapped up prior to free agency. Therefore the jazz will know who they already draft and can make free agency decisions with that knowledge.

I was just referring to the "screwed" part.

We should expect to not get a top 3 pick.

Yep, that is why i put that in my post as a possibility that would make the team trade vets and not add win now talent.
