2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

The media circus around Bronny would be annoying, but he is a legitimate NBA prospect. He's actually a very close physical comp to Donovan Mitchell. Similar weight/size w/ a 3'' shorter wingspan. Same vertical. Bronny had better shuttle run and lane agility w/ a slower sprint.
Donovan's freshman stats at Louisville were pretty pedestrian too.

Any potential home run pick like the Joker?

In this draft, I think guys like Topic, Williams and Knecht will be solid pros, guys who are starters and significant contributors.
Devin Carter is a guy who will probably have an impact just given how hard he plays and how he plays with his heart on his sleeve, so to speak.
Zach Edey if he has the right players around him and is the hub of a system that's designed for him could have a big impact. The debate is whether his reactions are quick enough, and honestly it could go either way.
Buzelis should be a good ball mover and connective type player.

If there's a player who is slated to land in the later 1st round, but actually has some All Star potential, then imo that player is probably Kel'el Ware. He has the tools and probably enough feel to be a near star-level player. The word on the street, however, is that he doesn't work hard enough and doesn't really want it. So who knows.

Nikola Djurisic has a nice combination of size, shooting and ball skills, if his shooting is consistent. There could be something there.

To be a star in the NBA, a player has to cover a number of bases. I'm not seeing many prospects in this draft that check the boxes well enough to project as a star. I think Topic and Williams probably are the most likely to become stars, but it might be a 30% or maybe 40% chance of happening. Topic would do some things a bit similar to James Harden, and Cody Williams would need to develop along a path similar to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander or Brandon Ingram.

Ware looks tantalizing.

Barring someone else falling we are almost guaranteed one Buzelis, Williams, and Holland being available at 10. I think that is pretty good for us.

Williams is someone who I think we should talk about some more. Pre-injury he was putting up some pretty amazing numbers. His weight for his size is definitely worrisome but at I don’t think I would pass on him at 10.

I would never draft a rim running big who takes 63% of his shots as 3s
Part of my thinking is that he weighing a choice of going to college or staying in the draft. I think he is the equivalent to a high school senior. He would be one of the best high school seniors. He also matched well to college juniors and seniors who were exceptionally athletic. When a player that is super young does well against draft eligible seniors I take that as an exceptionally strong indicator that he will level up a couple times in the next two years. This guy could end up being an all-star.
