Im going to organize a new draft. The goal of the draft will be to form the worst possible Jazz team made up from former (or current as sadly a number of players on the roster would make great picks) Jazz players.

We will only draft 5 players. Each team must loosely follow actual team construction (at least one PG and Center). You cant draft 5 really bad centers.

To prevent participants from just drafting absolute scrubs who barely ever played, there will be a minutes played threshold to qualify as a draftable player. The minimum minutes played requirement will be 1000 minutes (so no, Morris Almond would not be draftable).


I have no idea if people will actually be interested in this, but I think it could be fun reliving the worst players in Jazz history. It will be a chill draft. No time limits. We will only be making 5 picks each, so no rush. I have no limit on participation. I will take as many as we can get.

Everybody who has ever played for the Jazz has been awesome! Typically just the coaches that have held them back.

Just kidding.

Is there an easy way to get a list of players who meet the minutes minimum? Seems like the biggest barrier to being fun, having to look up minutes played for the Jazz.

Basketball Reference. It's for the true sickos who remember the scrubs of yesteryear.

It's also a very unserious draft, so no pressure.
 
I want to warn you now that even though we’re making these teams garbage, I’m only going to draft guys that were recognizable Jazz busts - even with the minimum minutes played threshold. Not sure if that’s what you’re going for, but that’s my game plan.

Yeah I'm aiming to pick all players I've seen before. Not going to just basketball reference the worst players and pick from there. I see it more as an act of remembrance for the forgotten.

I'm sure Thee Jazz Fan will have some interesting picks from the 80s teams when he was in his mid 30s

I know you said only 5 rounds, but I think a “playoff” rotation of 8 players - 5 starters and 3 backups would be appropriate. Totally up to Cy since this is your thing. . . but I’d be down for it.
