2025 Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

Given the growing consensus of Ace being "risky" and teams preferring VJ, I'm not sure I (personally) see a ton of value in moving up to the #3. Certainly not at the expense of 1) taking on Paul George or 2) giving up Lauri.

I'd just about give up the house to move up to #2. But if VJ goes 3 or 4, that leaves us one of Tre or Ace and I'm cool with that.

Of course it doesn't matter bc we're probably preordained to take Kon at 5.
There’s no way the jazz would take PG and swap 3 for 5 and give back Lauri. If that’s the case Ryan Smith should just sell to someone that would end up moving the team, because that’s a dumbass trade.

Let's say Charlotte offers this trade to Utah with the 4th pick included, what other draft compensation would they have to attach for you to say yes?

Charlotte has a good # of future picks from their own picks and other teams. They could put together a pretty nice offer.

Charlotte's team would be:

Ball
Miller
Bridges
Lauri
Walker

That's an incredible starting 5 w/ health and internal improvement from Walker/Ball/Miller that would possibly be one of the best starting 5's in the NBA. Elite size 1-5. High level shooting 1-4. Athleticism 1-5. Their bench would be Josh Green and Tre Mann then a bunch of scrubs.

It looks like Charlotte doesn't have a 2026 draft pick, but have a bunch in 2027. I'm not really excited about adding more picks in 2027.

I would want to add at least one more pick that was reasonably likely to be a top 10 pick. This trade could make Charlotte a good team, especially in the East, so their own picks become less valuable.

At that point it's just a quantity play, which I'm not super interested in either.
