2025 Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

Guys, if there is one thing to learn about the Spurs is that they don't trade high picks/promising young players for "win-now" fringe All-Star players. Instead, they draft well, patiently develop the prospects and lock them in for a long, long haul. That what made them the most successful franchise of the last 30 years.

Also, the idea that a team would trade Harper - who would be the consensus 1st pick in most drafts - for a 19-6 player with the league-average TS% ( who is also 28 and never played in the playoffs)... Are you serious?

You want to win with Wemby now or in 4 years? Did you see how good he was for stretches last year? He's ready to win now. I actually think it's kind of criminal if the Spurs don't trade it.

I believe in Harper, but how long will it take for him to be ready to be the 2nd/3rd best player on a title team? What if he never gets there.

Lauri/Wemby with Fox/Castle/Vassell is an elite team. Lauri might not be worth 2 in a vacuum, but he might be to the Spurs. Could they do something where they also include Sexton? I'd throw him in there for no return to get the deal done.

Lauri isn't viewed the way some think. He had a off year and everyone knows it's because Utah designed their team that way.

The Spurs wanted to max out Lauri in UFA. Last year wouldn't change their minds all that much.

A Spurs trade is interesting because the Spurs are in a weird spot. They just traded for a win now guy in Fox and just drafted Castle. Where does Dylan Harper fit into this picture? I think the Spurs will be tempted to trade #2 for a win now guy and the Jazz are perfectly aligned, having Lauri, to take advantage. Unless they are willing to splurge for Giannis, I don't know what win now move would be better and more affordable for the Spurs than trading for Lauri. Its a good trade to start of the trade thread.
They will be able to get Giannis instead if they want him.

This is one of the better trade ideas out there.

Genuinely makes a lot of sense for both teams.
Im calling that some version will happen. It just makes too much sense. Giannis will cost too much. 2 for Lauri is an overpay, but they have so many assets and it guarantees you a title contender for the next 4 years. They have a ton of assets to make more moves too.

He also happens to be the perfect player profile to pair with Wemby, Castle and Fox, and 27 years old.

It makes a lot of sense. Otherwise, the Harper fit makes for a clunky situation/fit.

I do agree that developing both Castle and Harper while Wemby is ready to win now is not smart, so I think SAS will trade one of them. I wonder if they would be more inclined to trade Castle?

Lauri to the Spurs makes a lot of sense. This is plausible, but I do think we would have to add some stuff to get Harper.

The Fox move signals they have some desire to be a winner now. Harper is a risk in how long he takes to develop and how much he can develop alongside a true lead guard like Fox and a developing Castle.
