2025 Playoffs Chat & Chill Thread

Your point is clear, I just can’t take it seriously. You say your complaint is about not tanking well enough. Then when we actually do tank well enough, you turn around and complain that the roster that tanked well isn’t good. This is venting, not good faith discussion.
I don’t really care whether you take me seriously or not. But that’s not my argument at all. My argument is:

1. We knew we’d be bad for a few years to collect talent (tank).
2. For inexplicable reasons, we failed to commit fully to the tank until year 3.
3. Throughout this experience our scouting and drafting has been poor. The goal of the last 3 years was to collect talent that could one day be used to: (a) replace the aged star talent we sent packing or (b) be used as trade bait to for established stars. We’ve failed at both.

I look at our roster and it’s astonishing to see how little we’ve accomplished. And just because we “tanked well” enough this year doesn’t justify the years prior where we either weren’t poor enough to earn a top pick or drafted poorly (Cody Williams) despite having a good lotto pick.

You can criticize the mistakes all you want and I’ll be right there with you. I’m not contesting the failures of the rebuild. But it’s not really an argument when you complain about the problem and also complain about the solution to the problem. That’s just venting. I don’t think finally doing the right thing justifies the previous two seasons either, but we wouldn’t be better off repeating the same mistakes. If you really think the Jazz need a Cade, why complain about being a situation that gives the Jazz the best chance at getting a Cade.

The limbo we were stuck in for two years makes zero sense unless you are drinking serious kool-aid. There was no reason to trade both Donny and Rudy, BUT if you were going to do it, then go all in on the blow up. We putzed around for 2 years. As far as the trades themselves, getting some draft picks in trades is fine but it is much smarter to get some young talent in return instead of just picks.
