thoughts?

Gay and Rondo are both young. Memphis gets rid of Gay's contract and Jazz won't need to sign any more max deals until Gay's contract is up with the exception of Favors which would be doable with good GM money allocation. We get MASSIVE size on the wing plus a great passer in Rondo. May be a little earlier to start both Favors and Kanter but it's worth the shot and they both have great potential. Maybe the Jazz could get Bass or O Neal instead or we could bring in Tomic. Next year we could have:

Rondo/Watson
Hayward/Burks
Gay/Gilchrist
Favors/Evans/Draft Pick
Kanter/Tomic

We would be deep and good starting 5

Talent-wise the Jazz totally win in this deal. Why would Memphis and the Celtics make this trade? Yea they save money but that is what teams do to sign very good players. Memphis really gets screwed in this deal. The problem with this trade for the Jazz is how are they going to pay all the other players with two MAX deals.

I actually think that Memphis gets a win in this trade. They can move Tony Allen to the 3 and start Ray Allen at the 2. This would help to spread the floor for this team that already has a great PF/C combo in Gasol and Randolph. That might push Memphis near the top in the West. A starting line up of Conley, Allen, Allen, Randolph and Gasol with Mayo and Bass being the top two guys off the bench. Not a bad deal for Memphis at all.

As far as Boston is concerned, they would need a couple of draft picks including the GS pick this year. Adding an elite PG and a better than average SF are the two biggest needs for the Jazz right now so I would not object to giving those picks up. Also, this would force the development of the young guys. Hayward had better watch out because if Rondo was to pass to him when he is coming off a curl or if he is open he had better shoot.

Can we implement a rule on this board that if you are going to make a hypothetical trade PROPOSAL that the thread is marked as such? This **** is starting to look like realgm.

not a bad trade, imo. I just don't like Rudy Gay, but this isn't a bad trade at all. Who will the Grizzlies play at SF, though? Mayo? Allen?

I'm like 90% sure Tomic's contract is through 2012-2013.
If he ever ever comes, it'll be 2013-2014.

He has a manageable buyout after this season apparently. KOC was supposedly in Europe scouting him recently so it is a possibility.
